I just got done watching Smoky and the Bandit for the first time in probably over 15 years. I had totally forgotten that the entire flick was one gigantic Coors beer commercial - that's what Bandit was smuggling. One of the two clowns who hired him to do the smuggling uttered this (roughly paraphrased) line:
"Why Coors beer is the best beer in America, but you can't distribute it east of the Mississippi!"
I wonder if the movie had anything to do with the sudden sale of Coors on the East Coast.
I recently watched the Oscar-bait I Am Sam. Almost every scene has a huge corporate logo prominently shown. Only Sean Penn's hilariously overdone and stereotyped performance could distract me from the Starbucks and GAP insignias rampant throughout.
