Title: Mad Max For You
Post by: Cullen on September 30, 2002, 11:56:24 PM
Word on the latest Mad Max movie (imaginatively referred to as Mad Max 4 ) has been posted over at  CHUD.com  (http://www.chud.com/news/sept02/sep30mm4.php3).

Might be good, but sequels are sequels and not to be trusted.  We don't need another zero on our collective consciousness, do we?

Hell, who am I kidding?  I'm looking forward to this one, too.

Cullen, who tried to think of puns dealing with the titles Road Warrior and Beyond the Thunderdome .

Pretty sad, isn't he?

I don't know..."Beyond Thunderdome" was disjointed and messed-up enough, complete with a whole tribe of Kennies, a "special guest-star," the confusion of an easily-recognized actor returning in similar-yet-different different role, and all kinds of other annoying problems. I shudder to think what "Mad Max 4" could cough up in our laps.

Mel's getting along in years, too. Christopher Lee pulls off the whole "Attack of the Clones" Count Dork bit with the aid of computer graphics and stand-ins, but if CGI takes over "Max" it's already a loss cause. I have this vision of Mel driving across the desert in an all-terrain version of a "Rascal"...

I don't want to see that anymore that I want to see Bruce Willis' "Die Hard With A Viagra" or Tina Turner in "Auntie Entity's Midnite Madness At The Thunderdome." Worse, they might decide to come up with a "new" Mad Max. You know, like George Lazenby or Roger Moore. Spewwwwwwww!

Mel Gibson, from what I've heard, has expressed an intrest (finally), so that's a small concern out of the way.

I don't know.  I liked Thunderdome , for whatever reasons.  Probably because it was the first Mad Max I saw, but who knows.

I don't asked that it's good, just that I'm not left a bored warrior.

Cullen, who doesn't care if a pun is bad, so long as it's a pun.

Yet more speculations. I hope this movie comes out, I love the Mad Max series(Yes even Thunderdome. At least admit it was great stuff up until Max went "beyond thunderdome") and hopefully they can get this newest movie out before Gibson becomes too old to do action movies. A Mad Max movie without Max would just be lame.

The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome were ok, but my favorite is still the first one.
