Saturday, October 5th, the Sci-Fi Channel--you know, the guys who disconnected "Farscape" for no good reason--will be running a basketload of mutant monsta movies...Lewis Teague/John Sayles' "Alligator," its who-gives-a-poo sequel, the killer-kroc-kwickie "Blood Surf," "Arachnid," and "Marabunta!," which originally appeared on FOX as "Legion of Fire: Killer Ants!"
I've only seen two of these: "Alligator" is dumb-but-fun fun with the "baby-alligator-in-the-sewer" urban legend taken to gory extremes. (Hopefully, Sci-Fi won't slash it up too much.) Robert Forster, Henry Silva, and some folks you might remember from TV make up the menu.
Mitch Pileggi is the only "name" in "Marabunta!," (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0122603) but what makes this one fun are the astonishing awful special effects, combined with the astonishingly stupid ways the cast finds to endanger themselves. Don't take my word for it--check the reactions at the IMDB through the link above. This movie really, really, really, really sucks. Enjoy!!
Wow. That user comment was a goodie. Shows how pain can jazz the creative juices. Sounds like a pain parade comming up, except for Alligator (That one was fun). Bring lots of beer to numb the synapses, and share the agony with someone you ...well, not love....who ever is most expendable in the immediate family.
