Title: Ivan Raimi on Spider-Man
Post by: chris on October 11, 2002, 03:52:53 AM
I hope this isn't another imdb screw up, but they have Ivan Raimi listed as a screenwriter for The Amazing Spider-Man.  He and Sam work excellent together, as proven in Army of Darkness and Darkman.  He also co-wrote the entertaining Easy Wheels and The Nutt House, the latter which I read the script before seeing the movie (the script was called The Nutty Nut) and it cracked me up.  The movie however was lame.  Please oh please, let this be true.

Nope. It was Stu Raimi, the black sheep of the family as it were, who wrote the script. It was Stu that convinced Sam to direct For Love Of The Game, for which he was uncredited as executive producer. He was also considered for the role of Iolas in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, but he wouldn't stop poking Kevin Sorbo in the eyes, Stooges-style.

Seriously, Spider-Man was penned by David Koepp.

Currently the screenwriting office in the Spiderman 2 office is equipped with a revolving door, because they are coming and going so fast.

Yet another movie witten by committee.  I hope Mr. Raimi can keep the story tight and coherent.

Currently Pulitzer prize winner Michael Chabon, who wrote the comic-themed The Adventures Of Cavlier And Clay and an unused script for X-Men in 1996 is writing Apidey's next adventure. This does kind of worry me though; ASM is set to roll this coming January, and here it is October, and there isn't a script yet.

Is that the one where his spider DNA gets crossed with a gorilla's and he goes to Africa to fight poachers?

Just kiddin' ya J.R., don't you hate typos?

Apider-Man would make a great movie! There's nothing funner than monkeys, but a monkey superhero with the powers of a spider? I'm there!
