Hey, Starship Troopers isn't mindless... it's got some serious things to say about propaganda and the state of modern warfare in between all the brain-sucking alien bugs.

The original Heavy Metal is a good mindless movie.

Starship Troopers.   Excellent choice.  I liked the movie, but as someone who was in the service it was PAINFULL to watch the combat scenes.  The humans just run around in a mob firing randomly--no squad, platoon, or company level strategy.  They also lacked any kind of support weapons or services.  A modern US Army Division, assuming it could be resupllied, would fare better than they did.

Yeah, as little as I know about combat, some of that stuff was pretty ridiculous--the humans surround the bugs and fire inward at them?  Without hitting each other?

IT'S A MOVIE, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO MAKE SENSE!!!

I must use the line everyday, trying to justify why I watch bad movies.

I think the greatest thing about action movies, is that they never reload. I dubbed it the MAGIC BULLET theory and it only applies to the heroes. Villians and henchman must reload every 5 mintues and thus allowing themselves to die.

Which brings us to "The Sanchez Effect", the henchmen who dies in every shoot out. Watch Commando to see "The Sanchez Effect" in all its glory.

Why is it called "The Sanchez Effect"? I don't know. It just sounds cool.

Monster In A Box and Liquid Sky.  While not
exactly "mindless", both these films let me
turn off my mind, relax, and just float
downstream...

Starship Troopers is utterly boneheaded, especially when you compare it to the Robert A. Heinlein source novel

My favorite no-brainers are The Rock (I love the idea of making the heroes a poet and a chemist; it's as if C.P. Snow wrote an action film) and One Crazy Summer (especially those HILARIOUS cartoon segments!).

Yea, Verily!  For me... UHF + The Return of the Killer Tomatos + The Killer Tomatos eat France + Loaded wepon 1 +  Anything by the Marx Brothers.(More Marx!) + Hot shots + Airplane(Sure i know every joke, but its comfort food for the mind) + The 60's Godzilla series + The 90's Gamera series + Police squad the tv series + and finaly....Starship Troopers....Oh...lord. Your right guys. Its Stupid! It fit the catagory! No armored suits? What were they thinking! They said the suit designs did't look "Cool" enought...Its battle armor , vas is cool!? A tiger tank ain't nessarity "Cool" but it's kick a sherman tanks ass! Same for Abrahams Vs T-72!  As long as it looks workable (think anime!) it'll scan! Sheesh! The armored "Cop cars" in Patlabor, those look cool. Alphonse in combat mode would kick bug butt! Nuff said.
