Title: Jason X
Post by: Scott on October 15, 2002, 06:04:35 PM
Ok, well I just seen JASON X and liked it. I found it entertaining(not creepy). It felt like THE GHOST OF MARS type stuff. The first Jason film was creepy. I like the first one with the twist of the mother being the one doing the killing. Talking in a little boys voice.

The Best part of Halloween films that I have seen was in Halloween II were Myers is just plain walking across the street with the Halloween movie music as background. The secret  to the Halloween films is in the mask and the methodical walk of Myers or sometimes with him just standing. Of coarse the bogeyman concept was really original.

In both Jason and Myers both seem to get bigger in size in the later movies.

I will try to see these films because of your previous post. Thanks.

Jason goes to Hell

Is it me or do the stalkers get more superpowers with each sequel? Usually it starts out with the mysterious stalker who likes to kill and the sheer terror of victims trying to get away from him with their stumbling efforts results in their own demise. But then just one or two sequels later he's an unstoppable machine. maybe in one of the sequels we're gonna see the highlander actors having out a battle against them. There can be only one.

Now that would actually be funny since even the highlander immortals can be killed by beheading and yet these horror villians are indestructable.

In the later sequels of both Halloween and F13 the killers murder a few people simply by punching them through the chest or squeezing their heads. And they start teleporting everywhere the victims go.

Lesson Learned:
The more people you kill the more superpowers you are granted. Get crackin'!

I agree Jason X was pretty good(I actually Liked it better than Jason Goes to Hell). I remember after I came out of the theatre, I wasn't sure if I hated jason X or loved it. It was just so goofy and bizarre at times one doesn't know whether to think of it as an insult to the Friday series or a great piece of entertaining trash. It was a fun and surprisngly entertaining movie with one or two good deaths and thats all that mattered.

Saw it in the theater with Katie (there is a real old post, somewhere buried).  Best part had to be the sleeping bag scene.   I saw Jason beating it against the tree and almost fell out of my seat laughing.  Picked it up on DVD of late.

Jason X was at its very best when acknowledging earlier films. I howled at the sleeping bag scene and the VR game was an obvious nod to the paintball game from part 6. The opening and closing were classic. The characters and dialogue were just too annoying to get it into the upper eschelon of F13.

It was a great piece of entertaining trash.  How about that "corkscrew" death.  That was pretty funny too.  Reminded me of THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES.

Best part had to be the sleeping bag scene.

Don't you have an MP3 around here somewhere of a girl in the woods trying to escape (a bear, I think)  and hopping away in her sleeping bag when it gets smacked by the creature and pretty much explodes against a tree.  *That's* hilarious

That's Prophecy, the mutant bear movie. Seeing what could best be described as a hopping banana fly across the campsite and explode in a huge poof of feathers is just hilarious. Saw the movie on TV 20 years ago and it scared me, except for that scene, which had me giggling uncontrollably. Today, I giggle at most of the movie.

Jabootu has a good review of that one too.

Finally saw Jason X on the weekend.

I really enjoyed it, actually.  It's among the top 5 of the Friday movies IMO.  My expectations were quite low but I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely watch it again.

The sleeping bag deaths were definitely my favourite - along with the shattered face.

I also saw JASON X recently and I have to say I was disappointed. I'll admit it, I am not a big FRIDAY THE 13th fan and I don't see them as entertaining, good or bad. But JASON X was just the pits. I remember after seeing SPIDER-MAN in the theatre there were a group of people talking about how bad JASON X was. And after seeing the film, I wish I had just believed them.

I just amazes me that films like JASON X can be released theatrically, and yet we really need a theatrical re-issue of the original PSYCHO or BRAINDEAD. Show people what REAL HORROR is.

Oh well, I guess I just don't get the series. So, I am definately in the minority right now.

Jason X was a pretty sizable disappointment (compare it to the solid, profit making run of Halloween: Resurrection) and most word of mouth on the movie was negative.  I went in expecting a piece of garbage and wasn't disappointed there.  Sure I liked it, but strictly as a bad movie - I think the Jason Lives was about as close to an actual  'good' movie as the exploitation saga ever got.  Then again, I'm a Friday Fanboy, so my thoughts should be taken with that in mind.

And I'm looking forward to Jason Verus Freddy oh so much (talk about cinematic garbage!)

The Myers mask is really a mask of Willaim Shakner with bigger eyes, messed up hair, not eye brows, and painted white.

And slightly more restrained in his performance

No, dude, you're not alone. I'm a pretty big F13 fan, and I was disappointed, even with the low expectations I had. If theyhad cast less annoying actors and punched up the dialogue it would have been one of the best.
