I have lately become somewhat of a regular here at Badmovies.org. I can't explain why I keep coming back EVERYDAY to this site. I'm addicted. I mean LITERALLY ADDICTED!! I know that most of you are too! Congrats to Andrew & friends for creating a fantastic and addicting site! Andrew, you're like a drug dealer who deals in bad film instead of actual drugs. You do it legally! Smart man! This site is my non-drug of choice! Ok, moving on. Question...Ever try to talk to someone about bad movies in general and they look at you like you're insane? That happened to me just the other night while exchanging idle chit-chat with a stranger. It hurt...alot! I referred to films that ALL of you would be familiar with. Films, that to all of us would be common knowledge. The person had no idea what I was talking about and gave me "that look". . I was as if I had hit a brick wall and I felt as if there was no way I could get through to the person I was chatting with. I could only refer them to this website to try and hope that they get a glimpse of what I was trying to get at. I think we all come here because we know that we can find that certain kind of acceptance deep down that we're all looking for. The kind of acceptance that you couldn't find anywhere else but here. It's kind of funny to think of it but I see this Phorum and this website as a whole as a kind of "Bad Film Lovers Anonymous." Just like an "AA" meeting only different. Let's face it, like Andrew states on the front page, it takes a certain kind of person to appreciate bad film! We all find common ground here. We love bad movies. We love to trash them. We love to gloat about trashing them. We love to tear them apart limb from limb and feast on all of the rest!! It's Heavenly isn't it? (LOL!) Most of you should be familiar with me and my eccentricities by now. If I haven't agreed with you in the past, then I've argued with you and most likey have become hostile toward you at some point or another. I have made allies with some and enemies with others and then reconciled with the latter. (Yes, you Neville.....we virtually shook on it!) I have stayed awake too long on a previous night drinking and slammed Flangepart for no particular reason at all but to insult his spelling capabilities. (won't happen again) I started a political debate about Iraq that ended up going south and left a bad taste in quite a few mouths. I've b***hed and complained and raised hell. I may have supported your opinion and agreed with you and then on another post I trashed you in some way. I have been told in a previous post that "I like to stir the pot." It seems that this is in my nature. I seem to answer or look upon certain things with extreme objectivity. It is something that cannot be helped. On the other hand I am usually always polite and ask for forgiveness if I have offended. I want your honest opinion of what you think of me. Let's face it. When you see a post by a certain person (whoever it may be), you form an instant opinion in your head of who that person is and what they're personality is like based on previous posts they've made. When you see a post made by me do negative thoughts run through your head before you click on it? Are you simply curious to see if I'm going to start some s**t again? Or is it that you've just got to read what ASHTHECAT has on his mind next? (sincerely, no ego trip) "Pot stirrers often attract attention" Please do not think that I'm an attention hound. Well maybe I am a little. We all are. Like I stated before, this has nothing to do with my ego, but rather my personality as you have read and know of it thus far. No matter which way you look at it we are a small community here on planet Earth. Do you not within your own communities that you live and work in often wonder what others think of you? You all have a certain self image built up for yourselves. I have my own of myself. I want your honest opinion. What do you think of me in general as a person and of my behavior on this site? Please be honest! I promise that no matter what you say here there will be NO retribution on my part. (maybe "a little" constructive criticism on my part only if you really insult me.) I simply want to know where I stand among you, my peers. Please tell me.
Dude, i have no problem at all with you. I just wish you'd use paragraphs..
i don't think we've ever conversed before on this message board, and to be honest you can't judge someone's personality from a message board. you can only make a general assumption by a site's fans. for example with this site, we all like bad/cheesy films, films that tend to be put in the wastecan of film history and forgotten about, until of course people like us stumble upon them. so one can make the assumption that we're all part of, or atleast interested in a very subculture like movement, much like punk music, indie-filmmaking, underground music, etc. the web can be a great thing, it can bring people together with common interest, or it can be used as a mask of deceit by those with bad intentions. and furthermore, i guess my main point is: who cares what people on this site think about you. why live your life to appease others. go about it the Daoist way, just follow your own path.

I think you worry WAY too much about what other people think of you and what you say.
Other than that, you seem to add a lot to discussions and you start some pretty interesting topics. If you post something that seems to be going nowehere, I stop reading and stay out of the thread (I almost did with this post)... but that's the same for all the posters (and same for me too as far as others are concerned, I'm sure).
yes...99% of society thinks we're crazy to like this stuff...and like most sub-culture interests, all our knowledge sounds like a foreign language to them. i think part of the reason is that you can't learn a lot of this stuff overnight...ha, it's like learning about wines or antiques and very similar to comic books...the directors...actors...the subtle difference between australian offerings versus canadian (haha)...etc...PLUS it is hard to find a lot of these flicks in that you have to seek them out a bit...so yes, we are a bit crazy to seek out such self-inflicted punishment...99% of society can't be wrong!!!
ever notice how a lot of people dabble with b-movies?...like most people know and like Buckaroo Bonzai or Killer Tomatoes or Evil Dead or miss Monstervision...but when you start throwing down Meet the Feebles or Drunken Wu-Tang or the useless evil genius of Andy Milligan---they look at you like you're completely nuts...
REGARDING THE SITE:, while i've never met andrew in person, i believe his personality comes through on this site...he doesn't take it seriously but sorta does if you get my drift. whenever i've found even minor typos in reviews, i let him know and he always replies with a "thanks." With the message board and guest reviews, this site is a great collective effort.

yes it is interesting how even some of the most followed b-films have earned their place in America's pop culture. Killer Klowns from Outer Space for example. Most people have atleast heard of the film or know atleast somthing about it through word of mouth. However the real weird cult films like "El Topo" or "Holy Mountain" are something to be sought only by the most hardcore fan of underground/esoteric cinema.
& besides, i think subcultures are great, who wants to be normal?

***** I don't know about that, mr. henry. I go to the video store and I see one hell of a lot of bad movies in the horror, sci-fi, and comedy sections. I mean one HELL of a lot. I never went past Econ 101, but I did learn about the relationship between supply and demand. Hard to imagine all those movies were made for 1% of the population. I believe we make up a substantially larger part of the general population. It's a heartening thought, isn't it?
