Is DAGON any good? Its a new release.
How about the new John Carpenter Vampire movie?
How about Eight Legged Freaks?
I would definitely recommend "Dagon" and "Eight Legged Freaks." Dagon might very well be the best (most true to the story - The Shadow Over Innsmouth") movie made that is based on a Lovecraft story.
"Eight Legged Freaks" was a good bit of fun. Lots of big spiders, some funny comic moments, and - if I failed to mentioned - lots of big spiders.
I liked EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS. It's kind of like GREMLINS, only with spiders.
Was DAGON based on that story or "The Shadow Over Innsmouth"?
Dagon, sweet.
Eight-legged Freaks, worth seeing.
Vampires: Los Muertos, s**te, but the actress playing the lead vampire is the hottest thing on two legs.
"Dagon" was indeed "The shadow over Innsmouth". The "Dagon" short story is actually too short for spawning a movie (6 pages on my edition). "Dagon" is one of my favourite B-Movies now, so I'd recommend it without hesitation. If you really have doubts about watching it, you can always watch the trailer at http://dagon.fantasticfactory.com
Haven't seen "Eight legged freaks yet".
Gotta agree with the consensus. DAGON rocked. It's low budget and has a few unfortunate effects. But on the whole it is terrific, with a perfect Lovecraftian setting and characters. Great makeup effects too.
As far as John Carpenter's vapmpires, it was pretty good. Definitely up there with Dracula 2000 (if you liked that, u will like this more). Plus, you cant go too wrong with James Woods. Havent seen Los Muertos though. Bon Jovi takes over James Wood's role, so it cant be an upgrade. Oh yeah and there are two useful priestts in Vampires
Dagon is a great creepy thriller that nails Lovecraft's atmosphere and aura dead on. Great stuff.
Eight Legged Freaks is one of the great giant insect movies, think Gremlins with spiders
Vampires: Los Muertos was written and directed by Tommy Lee (Halloween 3) Wallace and is a really weak semi-sequel to the John Carpenter hit. Not worth hunting down, that much could be said.
