Indeed.

I always liked his Derek Flint movies, they were one of the usual rotations of 4:30 movies on WABC.  And of course, The Great Escape.

Here's a link: (sorry for the URL wrap)

Although he only had like five lines in "The Magnificent Seven" I liked his character.

"Nobody throws me my own guns and says run...nobody"

"I was aiming for the horse"

Time to go rent Payback again...

Ironically, that's a reference I often use,  My wife's not always good at matching actor names with faces.  Whenever I mention James Coburn I always have to say "you know, the one in the Mel Gibson movie who was really upset about his alligator luggage getting shot up"

---upate--
this just happened again when I went to tell her James Coburn had died.  She looks confused, until I quoted the above line exactly (and then she died laughing when I showed her the post)

A tragedy. For me he'll always be the antihero from Peckinpah's movies, Steiner in "Cross of iron" and Pat Garret in "Pat Garret & Billy the kid". The scene in the director's cut of the last one, when he bites the dust at the beginning, is one of my favourite deaths in cinma history. And yes, he aged very well. Even in his minor roles he was great, and I won't ever forget all the energy he put in his role in "Affliction". A superb performance.

I keep predicting that Bob Hope's gotta go soon, he's nearly 100.

Well Richard Harris departed earlier this week - let me rack my brain for some possibles, all within age requirements (60s and beyond) of dances with the Grim Reaper....

Is Mickey Rooney still around?

Paul Newman?
Robert Altman?
Sydney Lumet?
Clint Eastwood!?! (He's what, 72 or 3)
Jack Nicholson?
Christopher Lee!?! NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!  :(
Ronald Reagan (He's dead already - He doesn't know who Nancy is any longer)
Richard Attenborough?
Charles Bronson? (Oh Charlie, you will be missed, but something tells me you miss Jill, a lot)
Michael Winner?
John Carpenter?  (Dude stills smokes, can't be good for him)
George A. Romero?
Pat Robertson (Just how good are those age defying shakes and pancakes, Pat?)
Chuck Norris?
Freddie Francis?
Richard Pryor?
Martin Landau?
Woody Allen?
Jack Palance?

I'm getting depressed, anybody else want to drop a name into the Dead Pool?

Dang, Mickey Rooney's got a flick coming out next year, according to IMDB:
Plot Outline: Biopic about former Las Vegas singer Patricia Paradise and her search for Shangri-La.
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0323576
It  doesn't appeal to me, but at 82, he's still working.
Title: Or Charlton Heston.

Can't believe I forgot him.

Oh geez, I didn't intend that as a pun...honest!

Still, you can't help but picture him snarling at his nurse one day "Get your stinkin' paws off me you damn, dirty ape!"

Sad really, my heart goes out to him.
