Title: Hope for Scary Movie 3?
Post by: Chadzilla on November 22, 2002, 12:52:36 PM
Seems that Dimension is irked that the Wayans brothers would make a new franchise movie for Revolution Studios, so they are personas non gratas on the SM3 set.  Seems David (Airplane!, The Naked Gun) Zucker has been roped into making Scary Movie 3, if this project holds then there just might be a Scary Movie I would be interested in watching.

Lets hope it has a plot and a script without cursing every other word.

Hmm...I'd swear I just reported on this on another site. Probably just a coincidence.

So when are we going to get the latest news on the magical world that is Misty Mundae? :)

I just hope they give him the casting reigns, as well. I think a big part of the reason why Airplane, The Naked Gun, et al were so damn funny is that they cast largely serious, straight-laced actors (Leslie Nielson at the time, Robert Stack, Peter Graves, etc.), making the jokes all the more absurd. When you fill the cast of a wacky movie like this with comic actors, like Scary Movie did, you get the feeling that they're in on the joke, which makes it much more tedious (Mel Brooks' movies, at least the early ones, are an exception here, but that's because he usually gets/got amazingly talented comic actors).

The reason the Scary Movie films didn't reach the laughs of ZAZ spoofs is because they weren't really spoofs, they were cheap delivery systems for "gross-out" jokes. And the jokes weren't funny. And in the case of Scary Movie 2 everyone involved was apparently legally retarded.

My hope is that they don't make this movie at all.
