Fortunately Britian is on our side, so it won't be "solo". Plus, we do need to have air & land bases before jumping into Iraq itself, so we can't go it alone.
All that aside, we should give the inspections a chance. I am confident that Saddam will try and delay, obfuscate, deny, and hide stuff. Then we go in and take him out. It'll be an interesting war crimes trial if we take him alive.
Well O.B.L. certainly ran and hid, gotta find the rock this dweeb is hiding under and snag him and soon, that is and will continue to be my stance until the situation is as close to being resolved as it ever will become. As far as Iraq goes, well I think S.H. is an easy PR target (we hit him once, so we'll hit him again and look tough). I also remember what the Pastor of our church said awhile back...."Don't be fooled by all the War on Terror rhetoric, this war has nothing to do with terror and everything to do with the oil you put in your car." Wise words that help keep these saber rattling politicos in perspective (you can be dang sure if it were Clinton in the White House and HE was pressing for Saddam all the conservatives, of which I am one, would be screeching bloody murder about him not focusing on getting O.B.L.! The Irony of the Shifting Sand Blame Game should not be dismissed). My main concern is that we are dealing with an issue with an easy out (toppling Saddam) while ignoring a much more mercurical and dangerous threat (Al Queda , O.B.L. and the disintegrating situations in Pakistan and Afganistan could lead to some serious clear and present danger if we don't step up our actions with our promises). The current dissent in Iran (one of those 'Axis of Evils' out there) over the death penalty put on a college professor for simply making statements the Fundalmentalist Government disagreed with is a perfect thing for our President to lambast (the execution of a dissenting voice) and support (the freedom loving dissenters), but I have heard nothing, have any of you?
Sadly there is no easy or safe answer, but I think the battle is currently looking for some short term gain to give primetime news something to crow over.
Now, how long before Andrew posts a 'I want this post to die' warning as certain individuals begin to bark and snarl at each other. :)
