Last night I watched Reign of Fire and Jason X. I watched ROF for the dragon effects, which were pretty good. The movie itself sucked. Jason X I kind of liked. Ok, so it wasn't a classic horror or Friday the 13th movie, but I thought it was ok. Things I didn't like were the sickbay activating and deciding to make him into a cyborg for no apparent reason, and the requisite sequel-setup ending. On the plus side, it had Lexa Doig looking hot as usual.
I also watched Alien Cargo again on SciFi. Relatively realistic without most of the usual cliches. Anyone else here watched it?
Oofff, but this hurt my head. Do not get me wrong, the film never bored me. The problem was when I turned on my brain and thought about some of the plot. Then crushing pain manifested.
Archangels? Impressive, but why? I think that a couple of Hellfire missiles would be a safe way to knock down some dragons. Explosive-tipped crossbows? Yeah, much better than a big-caliber rifle. And he carries an axe, like some sort of barbarian? It is going to eat you anyway. I think that a grenade would be better. Blow the dragon's head off.
The bit about them eating ash was idiocy.
>The bit about them eating ash was idiocy.
Not to mention that humans would provide very little compared to large animals, forests, jungles etc. Why did the dragon wait until the humans went to the crop to burn it? Does human ash taste better?
Yep.
The idea these big things would be impervious to large caliber ammo is way too hard to believe. If that harpoon could bring one down.....
And just asking us to accept that is a major problim for me. Did the dragons use manuvability and speed to compensate for armor limitations? I sound like a D&D player arguing from the rule book....but come on!
I think Nathan S. mentioned how vulnerable they would be to shooters with .50 cal sniper rifles, at least .458 weatherby. The normal female dragons seem about 4 ton in mass. About the size of a elephant...and a 375 H&H can do for them.
A long scene detailing the battles aginst the dragons would have been more interesting.
And don't get me started on how they could fly so well with big holes in their wings...i've seen too many eph. of "Wings" to buy THAT image! ( not the sitcom. the discovery ch. Wings.) We avation nuts know too much!
