Just viewed STRAW DOGS (1971) starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan George. Directed by Sam Peckinpaw(spelling?). The film is very good and I can't believe I have never seen this film before. The Hoffman character moves to England and fights off a bunch of local guys who rape his wife. You won't be dissappointed if you see this one.
And Straw Dogs is probably his strongest film. In an interesting comment, Peckinpah considered the thugs the good guys!
I also recommend The Wild Bunch and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia.
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid isn't that bad either, in its restored version.
The Killer Elite is a good bad movie (James Caan, Robert Duvall, Gig Young, Mako, and KUNG FU in San Francisco!!!)
I happened to see this just a month or two ago and agree with Scott. That ending is hard core - much better than some of the ultra-violent-for-shock-value stuff that's come out more recently. Hoffman is better than I thought as the timid guy who snaps. Up until he did, I really thought he was just going to get bowled over. Excellent movie.
