Just finished ATTACK OF THE ROBOTS (1978). Its an Italian Sci-Fi film. You have to see this to believe it. Andrew might want to review this one. Its like Star Wars only worst. Its like Star Trek only worst, Its like The Green Slime only worst, Its like Dr. Who only worst.
The robots wore silver outfits and all had blond hair.
The laser(?) battle is the wildest.
The space battle lasted forever.
The space battle has to be the longest ever.
The actor who played the good alien is also the good alien in WAR OF THE PLANETS.
The lighted sword fights are the weird.
The same type of felt caps
The hero is naseating
The villian looked like an evil Barbara Eden, but it wasn't.
The death scenes are funny. Robots dying everywhere.
I bought this DVD set from Best Buy for about $12. The set has both WAR OF THE PLANETS and ATTACK OF THE ROBOTS.
WAR OF THE PLANETS might have an edge over ATTACK OF THE ROBOTS, but both are directed by the same people. They were trying to cash in on the Star Wars excitement.

You may also want to check out WILD WILD PLANET also directed by Antonio Margheritti (sp?). Another fun Italian B sci-fi movie.
Gerry I almost had a chance to see WILD WILD PLANET around halloween time on AMC or TCM, but I forgot to watch the day it came on. Gerry did you see either WAR OF THE PLANETS or ATTACK OF THE ROBOTS?

WWP played on TCM--Oct 25? I think.
I haven't seen ATTACK OF THE ROBOTS, but I have a copy of WAR OF THE PLANETS that I taped from TCM earlier this year. It's pretty good though a bit slow. It was fun to see Franco Nero (Django) in an early role. My favorite Italian sci-fi to date is Bava's PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES.
P.S. checked on the spelling--it's Antonio Margheriti. He just passed away about a month ago. Here's more info:
Ah yes, PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES. Bought that one earlier this year. There are no vampires in that film.
