Title: Stunt feces?
Post by: Vermin Boy on December 22, 2002, 12:13:24 AM
Remember that post a while back asking about "stunt weed?" I'm in a similar, slightly odder situation...

I'm shooting a short film, and there's a scene in which the main character steps in dog excrement. I could easily make my lead actor step in actual feces, but I'm already planning on making him do several unpleasant things, and thought I'd be nice to him. Does anyone know of a convincing, telegenic substitute? It just needs to be smeared on a shoe for one shot.

Chocolate, maybe? Make some fresh fudge...

Could always take hamburg  (like for taco's) and mix it with chocolate frosting...

The perfect substitute for dog feces = filling from a Reeses Pieces Peanut Butter Cup.

It'll look great on camera, but you may never eat this candy again.

If you go with peanut butter or pudding, here's a good trick to make it look real: Squeeze the stuff out of a frosting tube or other such device. It gives it that "tubular" look, like it actually swirled out of a dog's hey-now.

I once saw an episode of Oz where this guy got his face rubbed in what was supposed to be dog crap, but it was so obviously peanut butter, just scooped out and plopped down, that it ruined the scene.

Title: It's Free

Just drop your drawers and take a healthy dump on the ground!

Make sure no one's watching though.

It's free (well, minus the cost of the meal that created it of course!) AND it's the real thing!

ALWAYS GO FOR REALISM!!!!!

Besides, it'll wash off his shoe.

That way, if there's a director's commentary you can say, "yep, that's the real thing"!

Who cares what others think.

All this talk of mixing peanut butter & what not!
Too much of a hassle I say.

I'd suggest mixing up some cocoa and flour, and adding enough water to give it a doughy consistency. Adding a scoop of peanut butter might make it look a bit more gooey and smeary. Peanut butter on its own, however, is just too creamy and smooth. When adding it, don't mix it too thoroughly. A little variation in colour is nice.

One other thing that will add a realistic touch. To your flour, cocoa, water and peanut butter, add something that will give it a slightly granular appearance. Cornmeal might be good, or perhaps wheat germ, since it's more brown.

I've scooped a lot of dog crap, and I think that will give you something realistic.

A friend of mind, her dad poured brown shoe polish on some toliet paper. He got on the elevator, and dumped it in the corner. Some people got on. He waits till he gets a good crowd.
"Hey, whats this ?" he says, and stands so everyone can see tne "Poop". After they get a good look, he says" Ah, man, ain't that disgusting", reaches down, picks it up with his hand, and drops it in his old coat pocket! Then casualy leaves.
The look on the faces....priceless!
Just another possability.....

And whatever you use, make sure you add some sweetcorn.
