Anyone like them?
Carnosaur 1-3, RAPTOR, and Dinosaur Island.
I am a big CARNOSAUR fan. CARNOSAUR 3 is probably Roger's best film in years IMO. But RAPTOR... I felt cheated by that one. As an aspiring filmaker, I hope to launch a DINO RAMPAGE series of films myself. Maybe hire Rick Dean (CARNOSAUR 2+3) for a starring role.
Carnosaur 1: Ugh.
Carnosaur 2: I think I'm the only person who honestly liked this.
Carnosaur 3: Ugh.
Raptor: DIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIE!!!!!
Carnosaur 2: I think I'm the only person who honestly liked this.
Carnosaur 2 was pretty well done, much more professional than the first one. Although it still had plot holes a mile wide as I recall.
It was also funny seeing just how many scenes were lifted directly from Aliens. Sheesh, when Corman rips off another movie, he doesn't do it half-way :)
I have yet to see "3" or "Raptor"
Ohmygod! I can't believe there are acctually Carnosaur fans left on the face of this planet. And Rick Dean is no doubt a very talented actor. He can act well in one movie, then come back in the sequel as a different character and execute it well.
Carnosaur 1 - Well made horror film, I consider it up there along with the Friday the 13th films, Leprechaun, Halloween, and Pumpkinhead.
Carnosaur 2 - Better then the original. Better acting and not as many flubs and plot holes, although they were still in there. And is it me, or did Capcom watch this film and turn it into Dino Crisis?
Carnosaur 3 - A flub a minute, with bad acting, and the worst special effects since Jaws 3. I can go on about the mistakes but its fun laughing off at the film. Rick Dean saves this one.
RAPTOR - EXCELLENT! I AM THE ONLY ONE THAT LOVES THIS MOVIE. SURE ITS DUMB I LOVE LAUGHING MY ASS OFF AT THIS!
Dinosaur Island - Like Jurassic Park meets a Porn, got to love it.
Wow I also have a dream of making a dino rampage on a ship with a couple of people investigating the ship and discovers a sick secret of mad science experiments that uses capsules to grow the parents of dinosaur and also capsules to create plant life for the herbivours ( I can't spell) the boat should be called Noah's Ark
and the people who ends this by using explosives from one of there teamate who owns lots of weapons and bombs
ahhhhh....
actually I really just made it up
carnosaur sucks
beginning of carnosaur 2 really wass good
so was the ending
note to self find raptor and carnosaur 3
and buy milk and eggs
I could take or leave the carnosaur series though the second one was the best of the lot. Dinosaur Island on the other hand... Now there's a movie };->
AYO AYO!
I really dig Carnosaur. 2 was as good an Aliens ripoff as you'll find. 3 was a good time. Raptor, or as I like to call it, Carnosaur's Greatest Hits Live, was a goddamn laugh riot at our New Year's party. It was fun providing commentary of how each scene led into the kill from 1 2 or 3 and what was supposed to happen.
My favorite was the leading of the old guy into the basement where the Tarbosaurus is hiding.
Brother R
I happen to like the whole series. but corman's best dino flick (one that he was involved with because he did not direct any of them) would be Carnosaur 3: Primal Species. the flick is so humrous and unserious I ended up enjoying quite a bit.
Carnosaur: Four slimer
Carnosaur 2: Five slimer easy
Carnosaur 3: Five slimer (one of my favorite films)
Raptor: Two Slimer (it was fun in it's badness)
I have yet to see Dinosaur island.
I liked carnosaur and it's sequels. They are great for mindless fun.
Now, Dinosaur Island -- that's a hoot! Don't listen to what Greywizard says; he's Canadian, so he's just jealous that the best dinosaur film they've made there was the suck-ass 1997 Patrick Bergen version of The Lost World.
Nathan
One thing that always interested me in corman's dino films was that they were much more damn entertaining than the mainstream efforts. The filmmakers of these films are all pretty unknown (except Wynorski and Olen Ray of Dinosaur Island). The didn't work much but there work in these films show that lower budget can mean better film.

I wouldn't say that but CARNOSAUR 3 sure beats the p**s out of JP 3. That's for sure.

YEAH!
"Ah, no sir, but donkeys aren't really dumb. They are very intelligent animals. If you look at their ears, sir. They can hear you from, like, a mile away, sir."
Rick Dean rocks! He so much more talented then people like Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neil who seem to play the same type of character in each movie. Dean can play one character in a movie, then come back in the sequel as a total different guy and execute it well.
Creepizoid (love that movie by the way),
I think that the Jurrassic Park movies are good movies but I would pick most of Corman's dinosaur films over them. They are just more fun and are especially fun when you want something with tons of action. I will admit that Carnosaur is not quite as relentless in it's action but dammit they are just more fun. Plus, that gives one of the greatest dinosaur scenes ever:
"Greeting's green brother"- that is just so damn hillarious.
Watch carefully in that scene, Haze.
When the "Raptor Puppet" bites off Esau's face. You can tell its just really-fake make-up, since you can still see his lips.
And when...you probably all ready know this part...that the blood on that one girl's face changes from shot to shot. And that you can see a hand pullling on her leg.
Proabably the main reason why I would pick a CARNOSAUR over a JP is cuz it delivers what you would want most from a movie about dinos that kill...GORE, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL GORE.
GORE, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL GORE.
For some reason that brought a mental image of "The Simpsons" when they all go to Kamp Krusty and Martin says something very similar about gruel
i've only seen carnosaur 2 and raptor, but those films were a riot! good lord even after enduring such classics as "feeders 2" and "troll 2", i'd have to give raptor the nod as the absolute worst movie i have ever seen! god, i loved it! i don't know which of the two scenes i liked the most, when 50 guys in blaze orange parkas run out of the lab after only 5 or 6 went in, or when the hero fights the t-rex in the metamorphing forklift! (bobcat one scene, catepillar the next!). man, that movie was something to behold!
at least corman didn't sell out and use those god-awful cheap computer generated creature effects that you see in a lot of b-movies these days (crocodile, blood surf, reptilian, loch ness, python, and so on). i'll take guys in dino suits and puppets over poorly done CG any day.
Yeah I am aware of these scenes but stuff like that doesn't bother me when I know I am watching a bad movie. Carnosaur has tons of mistakes but Hell, that makes it more fun.
Ohmygod, there is someone else that loves RAPTOR!

Well, Nathan lives in Utah - not only an isolated place in the middle of the desert far away from the many exploitation fruits of civilization, but a place that immediately frowns upon many saucy things. So because of his living in such a restricted place, "Dinosaur Island" cannot help but come across as a fun romp to him. WHICH IT ACTUALLY ISN'T, SO THERE! :-)

You know, people who live in Canada really can't throw stones. (I lived in Canada. I know.)
Okay I just rewatched Carnosaur 2 this weekend and I change my position. It sucks. It's a lousy rip off of Aliens and unlike the first one it wasn't as much fun.
I would say that raptor is good to laugh at but if you go about it without regard for the unbelievably horrible cheese level then you will be struck down hard and fast.
I still hold my position that Carnsaur 2 is one of the best dinosaur films ever. It is bested by Carnosaur 3 though.
