Ok, I just seen this movie yesterday... and let me say one thing...
Who the hell writes this crap!!!
Sure the special effects and the action is great... but little things like: PLOT HOLES... bug the crap out of me...
:D
I felt they'd substituted fast acting and people rushing around for plot, character and dialogue. There's a point where films can become so fast, they become boring. Not too bad though, still fairly enjoyable overall but not as good as the first Blade.
Pete
I just couldn't get into the new vamps.
It also suffered the same problem that Buffy the TV series had: they made dispatching vampires so f**king easy that they couldn't use them as the focus anymore. What's the point in having a vampire movie when the vampires are useless?
Blade 2 wasn't that bad. The new vamps were a cool idea and very well done and the action was really fun. I agree, they did sacrifice too much character development. I think if you could combind (is that the right spelling??) the two Blades, you would have a great movie, as good as Batman And Spider Man
Plot, there was a plot? I saw it the night before New Year's eve, with my friends. And between lots of wine and vodka, and a crying two year old, we periodically had to stop the movie. I'll give it points for good action sequences, and interesting idea about "crackhead" vampires.
SPOILER:
If you have your finger on the trigger of a bomb that really does work, why wait until the bad vampire guy takes it out of his head and hands it to the weak hanger on before pressing it.
Lancer, you are a very, very, very lonely man on this issue, for this is the numero uno favorite flick of all internet fanboys everywhere.
Err... Gee Steven that's a bit of a sweeping generalization...

i agree. blade is cool and so is much of the action, but the two flicks come off weaker than they should due to running time and weak scripts. i don't totally dislike the flicks, but i WANT to like them so much more. they could be so much better.
my blade II two cents woth:
Blade II - 2002 (R). (DVD) Directed by Guillermo del Torro. Wesley Snipes again efficiently stars as Blade, the half-man half-vampire "daywalker." He's hired to eradicate troublesome mutants when the Reaper Strain, a mutation of the vampirism-inducing infection, creates competition for the Vampire Nation. It ain't easy; they're immune to silver and garlic, have hearts encased in bone, and possess one hell of of an underbite. This flick unfortunately drags due to a ho hum script and after watching the same kung-fu moves for the umpteenth time, you'll be ready for the end when it finally rolls around like an ugly severed head. Hopefully, if there is a third installment, the fat will be trimmed and the story will be worthy of the cool Blade character. NOT RECOMMENDED.
over and out,

See he nows it Snipes needs better scripts
What happened to Snipes? He was so 'entertaining' in Passenger 57 and Double Team, but Blade just went wrong. Even some of the action scenes were tedious. But oh well, i just saw Lord of The Rings- The Two Towers and this movie is truly the cure for insomnia. So, in context, Blade isn't that bad
Am I the only one who prefers the second Blade over the first one? I agree on that the film is nothing to write home about. Simply, not any single character is likeable, and their interaction is not interesting at all. But Guillermo Del Toro can direct a film, he knows what he is doing and if the script is bad, at least his visuals are worth the rental.
But Steven Norrington, the guy who made the first Blade was a complete dork! Half of the film was filmed with blinding flashes of light, frames looked like cut with an axe, editing was MTV style, and then, techno music on top! Look, if I ever want that, I'll go to the nearest disco. If I pay to see a vampire movie, I want a vampire movie, godammit!
Steven Millan...
As... raj has said...

its parts like this that insults my intelligence
If the bad guys has an inside man, then why did this inside man give Snipes silver painted bullets??? or rigged it for his gun would not to work???
If this was all a trap for Snipes then why didnt they trap him when he was seeing the head vampire... (or even when he was being attacked in his base)
Why did the movie made it like that some vampires are not awear of the Trap... Except for Mr. Chip in the head...
As for special effects goes... this movie kick ass!!! as for action goes this moves kicks ass... as for the script goes... this move sucks!!!
Really? I thought BLADE 2 was one of the few surprises of 2002!
Blade 2 didn't have much in the way of plot or characterization or anything. I will not forgive the wasted opportunities with the characters, who could have been incredibly cool but were just there to take up space.
The final battle between blade and whatshisname, the primary Reaver, was great. Not overly stylized, just two super-strong guys beating the hell out of each other.
