Title: B-Movie/Cult Movie Trivia Book
Post by: dan_I'm_the_man on January 17, 2003, 11:04:38 AM
Attention all cult and b-movie fans:

I have been toying with the idea of creating a trivia book with cult/b-flicks as the subject.  I need some feedback.

-What subjects should I cover that would appeal to hard-core, casual and "just beginning" fans?

-How big should it be?

-Is it a viable idea?

-Here are some of the categories I cooked up.  Which should I keep?  Which should I drop?

-It Came From Japan-Godzilla/Kaiju films

-It Came From The 50's-'nuff said

-Gore Galore-Slasher films/Classic gore flicks

-Plots From Hell-Four outrageous b-movie plots described.  Only one is fake.  Find it.  (This would be spread through the book between chapters)

-Quotable Quotes-Match the quote to the movie

-Spotlight sections-Trivia devoted to certain b/cult movie makers (Ex: Roger Corman, John Waters, William Castle, Peter Jackson, George Romero, Ed Wood, etc)

-Gotta Start Somewhere!-Famous actors’ first roles in b pictures.

-Megaton Bombs-Trivia devoted to Hollywood produced bombs

Any ideas?  Post them here or e-mail me at my address above.

I like to see you cover "B-Movies that made millions over the years"

Sounds like a great project.  Let me know if you need any help with it.  I've always wanted to do something like this.

How about sections on various countries that cranked out more than their fair share of B-Movies over the years? I see that you already have Japan listed, but what about:

Mexico (like all those wrestling hero movies from the 60s and 70s)
Italy (plenty of early 1970s drive-in movies came from here)
Spain (same as Italy)
Germany (same as Italy)

. . . and what about all those trash classics that were made in the Phillippines?

Maybe you could have 2 books. One U.S. version and one international version?

Don't forget to consider putting in valuable information, such as how half of Jerry Goldsmith's score for the international version of LEGEND ended up in SLUGS: THE MOVIE. My God, people will be shocked by this info I tell ya'.
