Title: UHF on Encore
Post by: Scott on January 21, 2003, 10:43:03 AM
Just seen about 1 hour of the end of UHF starring Weird Al Yankovic and Micheal Richards. I didn't even realize that was Richards as Stanely the janitor. I was saying to my self there is a pre-Kramer type, when in fact it was Kramer. This movie is playing later this afternoon on Encore so I'll try to catch the beginning. Our cable company has either given us Encore for a short time or for good. It comes with about 5 different genre channels.

Weird how Encore has done a channel for Action, True Stories, Mystery, Western, and a gerneral Encore, but they haven't focused on Sci-Fi/Horror. Flix has been showing some good stuff also.

Also on Encore today you have:

Smithereens
Fantastic Planet
Drugstore Cowboy
Delirious

UHF is one of my favorite movies.  If you like it, I recommend the DVD, which has some pretty good extras.  Especially the commentary with "Weird" Al and the director.  It usually sells for under $10, too.

I have fond, fond memories of renting UHF religiously when I was 10. I still watch it whenever I can; the entertainment value hasn't diminished in the least. I second that on the DVD. Al's presentation of the deleted scenes is great. MGM never fails to impress me when it comes to cult-film DVDs.

Caught some of FANTASTIC PLANET and that was some of the strangest animation out there.
