Title: my own bad movie night
Post by: jordan on January 24, 2003, 04:32:02 AM
I can't believe I just discovered this website.  I'm doing my fifth bad movie night this saturday and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions.  Previous movies we've watched and enjoyed laughing at have included A Boy and His Dog, Drop Dead Fred, No Holds Barred, Jack Frost and The Paperboy.

I'm not sure yet what I'm getting for this Saturday night because I want to make sure that the movies I get are bad yet enjoyable.  I've had some trouble lately because some of the more recent movies I've rented have been bad beyond enjoyability such as Jack Frost 2 and Spice World.  So far I'm thinking about getting Road House, Delta Force, and Showdown in Little Tokyo.  Any suggestions?

First of all, A BOY AND HIS DOG is considered to be a sci-fi classic, so I'm not sure why that was on the list.

You need to get some REALLY bad movies like:

CURSE OF THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN (possibly the worst movie I have ever seen)

BURIAL GROUND (aka THE NIGHTS OF TERROR) very gory (although most of the effects are cheesy) and very badly dubbed

BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS - still bad after all these years

NIGHT OF THE BLOODY APES - good open-heart surgery scenes, very BAD make-up

Yes, Beast of Yucca Flats is a great choice, also try Wild Wild World of Batwoman (absolutley terrible, good luck on this one)
or maybe Pirhana II, The Flying Terror
I discovered one the other day but haven't found it yet called Bela Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla (yes it's real and yes it's Bela Lugosi)
or ANYTHING with Jeff Goldblum (Earthgirls are Easy is so bad it gives me a rash)
or perhaps you could try The Crawling eye

my wife and I do it every night hehehehe   hmmm if you are going to collect try ebay most bad films that havent yet reached cult status (ie evil dead, the cult section of hollywood video etc)  can be bought for less than a few bucks on ebvay.
ANYTHING from roger Corman is good.   someone mentioned pirana 2  amazing to  see james cameron direct that ....anyway.   Good luck trying to rent any film you might see on this site though.  I found out the hard way that ebay is a wonderful thing, besides I got the bad movie bug and decided to collect em anyway
just my 2 pence worth.

As for me...
1. The gravedigger and his pals
buy beer
2. rock and roll zombies  (should be wussy rock zombies)
do shots
3. anything with nazis and zombies   ie the yesterday machine or zone troopers
We used to have crappie movie night on my front porch the neighbours hated it at first then they learned WOOOHHAAAAAAAA

For some reason, three movies that to me would work together

"Megaforce" (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0084316)
"Timerider: The Adventure of Lyle Swann" (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0086443)
"Warrior of the Lost World " (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0088380)

All bad, but not painfully so.   Can be fun if taken in the right spirit

Hmmm . . . I don't consider DEAD ALIVE to be a bad movie. Although, the director has come a long way . . . from MEET THE FEEBLES and DEAD ALIVE to LORD OF THE RINGS . . . who would have believed it?
