Title: Old Movie...
Post by: AndyMack on January 30, 2003, 03:47:41 PM
Alright, maybe y'all can help me out here.  There's an old sci-fi movie where a creature gets brought from Venus to earth and then continues to grow and wreaks havok and mayhem everywhere.  I cannot for the life of me remember the name...do any of you have any clue what I am talking about?  Please help me out here...thanks!

That would be 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH.

That description sounds like the plot of just about every sci-fi movie released between 1957 and 1959. It certainly matches the plot of 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH, except that the creature doesn't wreak havoc and mayhem everywhere . . . he limits his destruction to Italy.

I just bought the DVD . . . it is well worth the price!

Nah, the monster doesn't change size.  Nor does it ever do anything remotely resembling "wreak havoc."

You're right, it didn't change size.  Come to think of it, not only did it not wreak havoc, it didn't even conquer the world.  It just sat in a cave, spitting out remote controlled plastic vomit, occasionaly talking to Lee Van Cleef on a C.B. Radio.   Therefore, I must conclude that you are right, and I am mistaken.  : )

Well, the title says it all. It's The Monster that CHALLENGED the World, not The Monster that ATTACKED the World. He made the challenge, but no one stood up to him, so he just sat in the cave . . .

That pretty much sums it up.

It does match quite a few from that era.  Sounds a bit like the Quatermass Experiment (aka The Creeping Unknown)?   The 'thing' ended up in the window of a cathedral in London, England, where it was finally stopped.
