Title: Haunted House of Horror..or The Film That Changed Frankie Avalon's Religion
Post by: Deej on February 07, 2003, 09:01:46 PM
Caught this one on cable yesterday. It was filmed in the late 60's and had to do with a series of knife murders centering on an old burnt out house. I went in with less than than high hopes, it starred Frankie Avalon and was rated PG, so I figured it would be light on good ole slashin' and heavy on Frankie. I was actually drawn in rather quickly. As I said, this is a product of the 60's, so that's unusual(not many slasher flicks around then) and it was set in England, which is also different. The cast was a group of young, hip, mod-types. The story is par for the slasher movie, bunch o cute kids go into a haunted house, one gets wasted, no way for someone else to be in the house at the time, murderer has to be one of us, hilarity ensues. I knew pretty much right off who the killer was. Think wide-tie, and trousers that would make David Decoteau blush. Still it was pretty well acted, and the ending was DEFINITELY a surprise!! I like to think of this as revenge for all the s**tty Beach Blanket movies, woohoo!

Really great to see that somebody other than myself actually admits to remembering this long-lost slasher favorite, which somebody needs to release onto DVD A.S.A.P. .

Well, here is another one who saw it. And when it was first released to the theaters.
Notable as a rare example of the British slasher, which is probably why you don't see many British slasher films.
Most memorable moment: the amount of blood Frankie vomits at the end.
Enjoy!
