Title: It Came from Hollywood
Post by: The Burgomaster on February 25, 2003, 01:29:01 PM
Anyone know if a DVD release of this movie is planned? I saw it at the theater and I had a VHS copy that I taped off of HBO many years ago, but it has been at least 10 years since I've seen it and I'm having withdrawal attacks.

Strange...Amazon.com mentions a DVD release from July--but perhaps it was cancelled, because it doesn't seen to exist outside of that mention. It's "out of stock" at Amazon, and nowhere to be found (on DVD) on eBay. Amazon DOES display a DVD cover.

Perhaps just delayed? I mean, it's got Candy, Radner, Ackroyd, Cheech & Chong...and sure, it's not perfect, but what is? (Okay, fine, "The Two Towers." But what else is perfect?)

Incredible...less than ten months after release (May 31, 2002, according to Amazon), the damn thing's OOP and impossible to find? (Amazon's got a nineteen-deep waiting list.) Suckalicious.

I heard somebody mention something recently about there being some sort of legal problem involving no longer having the rights to show some of the clips in the movie or something like that. Sorta like the same thing that happened with Rhino's release of the MST3K AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN episode.

Sounds to me like those "legal rights" have to do with Susan Hart-Nicholson's rights to some AIP films, and the way her legal boys have been going around confiscating prints from people and serving papers and lawsuits to other individuals and groups.

Fie on Susan! :-P
