These are my films "to see" list without going out and buying or renting a copy off the internet. It's basically what I can find at a local video store. My choices are getting smaller and smaller:
1) Searching for:
DJango (and the better of the sequels)
El Topo
All Foriegn Horror Films(mostly Spain, Italy, Mexico, Philippines)
Speghetti Westerns
Kung Fu Films (with the historical outfits from Hong Kong during the 70's to 80's)
2) Theater:
Williard
3) Rental Store:
Wild Bill
Valdez is Coming
Yojimbo
Kegumesha
Birth of a Nation
Captian Corageous
Vamp
4) New Releases (might wait till they hit the $2.00 shelve) :
Ballistic
One Hour Photo
Monster Ball
Fortunately my local cable company added FLIX and the Encore Channels to my existing cable package. They have been showing some good stuff once in awhile.
Hey Scott,
With your new Encore package, do you get the Action Channel? This is a good channel in particular to find some great action films, however, beware of the crap that they usually play during the day. The real gems are on at night and on saturday night. They used to show some great kung fu movies (John Woo's Last Hurrah for Chivalry, letterboxed (!), and others) so be on the lookout for good movies during the night.
Nick
Saw Williard, read my post to see more about it, but I highly reccomend it. It is very good and even a little scary.
Yea, Nick I get Encore east/west of Encore, Encore Action, Encore True Story, Encore Romance, Encore Western. I will keep watch out on Saturday nights.
Evan3 I'm looking forward to seeing WILLIARD maybe Friday or Saturday.
Willard was creepy and the acting by Crispin Glover and Lee Ermey was perfect for their roles.
I just found that the basic storyline wasn't different enough from the original, so there were no big surprises.
I'd say that you should see it, but don't rush . . . you might even wait for a video or DVD release.
The Action and Mystery channels play a lot of good horror films....
The original DJANGO is the best--I think DJANGO STRIKES AGAIN is the only genuine sequel with Franco Nero.
