I remember seeing this movie years ago, probably about 9 or 10 years ago (so I was probably 7 or 8). It was about an alien spacecraft that was discovered on the outskirts of either NYC or LA. I forget who starred in it (I want to say Bill Paxton, because I seem to always think that the main hero was played by Bill Paxton), but I don't think it was acted too far. Here's a couple of scenes I remember:
-On the top of a high-rise apartment building, our heroes (a white male cop, a white female cop with blonde hair {I think}, and a bald black cop with glasses and a suit that was their captain) were searching for clues on the huge balcony. Suddenly, a helicopter pulled up with a machine gun, and promptly laid waste to the bald black cop while trying to get the other two as well. I remember the bald black cop was gushing blood and fell into a pool or something.
-The white male cop was "possessed," or something, by the alien force, and kinda re-enacted a scene from AKIRA. He was exiting the alien spacecraft, or going deeper into it, when a dozen or so armed military/SWAT personal (gas masks, assault rifles, body armor, dark clothing, etc.) began shooting at him. He just looked up, the bullets not even coming close to hitting him, and started screaming. A blue "energy force" was admitted, and many explosions happened in the hallway. Every single armed guard/SWAT/military personnel was then dead.
Any ideas? I'm going to search IMDB.com for Bill Paxton movies, and see if any of them show up. I know the movie was made in the 80's, more than likely (due to the fashion, primarily).
Monolith: You were right about Bill Paxton. Lou Gossett Jr. also stars. Quite an entertaining flick.
