Title: Yor, the Hunter from the Future
Post by: Scott0 on March 29, 2003, 09:01:10 PM
Guess what comes on at 9:00 am the morning of Sunday 30, 2003?? Well, look at the title of the thread. IT'S YOR!!!! Yor, the gatherer! Yor, the groomed! Yor, the adventurer! Yor-- the freakin' boring! Starring the immortal Reb Brown of Space Mutiny fame, Yor is a treat to watch. Though I'll be at work when this hits the airwaves, I am already setting my VCR, cause this one is a can't miss! Check it out!

Personaly, i've never had to hunt the future, it keeps comming after me on its own, thank you.
Heres a match up. YOR Vs. YOG. Two versions of rubber monster, one with tenticles, one with pecs. Sword and sillyness, ahoy!

Or how about YOR vs. YOG v.s YMIR? They'll make a movie out of it, and Corman could direct. It'll be "cool."

The opening theme song: NEVER has a movie so boldly announced how badly it is going to suck in its first moments. Never. Woof.

I used to have a laserdisc of "Yor," but it developed laser rot.  Picture started breaking up at times, most likely to two halves of the disc were coming apart due to poor glue.

The scene in which Yor shoots a pteradon and then uses it to glide into the enemy camp, with music blaring, is awesomely funny.  It pretty much saved the movie for me, just like the sleeping bag scene in "Prophecy" (the bear movie).

I'm one of the few who can say they actually saw this movie in the theater when it first open. I got my mom to take me. It think I was like 8 years old. She usually likes that sort of movie too so she had no problem taking me to see it. We both hated it. God that movie sucks.

Even the director hated it. His actual quote regarding YOR, "Its awful! I mean, have you seen it?"

With that said, the theme song is one of the greatest musical compositions ever produced by manking.

I caught parts of it on SciFi during the late night replay, so goofy I can't quite hate it. The sub-Dr. Who costumes, the cheesy effects, iffy dubbing, those silly elbow and armpit supported lasers, and the world's toughest old man in a caveman getup! That old coot was rugged the way he could do those improvised trapeze tricks (assisted by a very fake model and reusing footage) and out shoot and out run people a third of his age during the climatic battle and never get out of breath. I'll have to catch it from the beginning one day, it looks like perfect late night mind candy for me.

The IMDB says the movie was edited down from an Italian miniseries.

YOR is a film that gets more and more entertaining as you near the end...I mean, how can you not love the sight of a bunch of Darth Vader clones shooting slow-motion lasers at Reb Brown?

I paid good cash money to see this during its original theatrical release. I still haven't forgiven myself.
