Title: bad movie not on list
Post by: michael on April 01, 2003, 07:30:08 PM
One movie that should probably be added to the list is 'Black Roses'.
Its an 80's horror movie about a hair band fronted by the devil that turns a small town's teenagers into delinquent monsters and such.  I found it at Blockbuster so its probably not too rare.

To be fair, there are lots of bad movies that aren't on the movie review's list, but Andrew's working hard to make that number smaller. As for the movie, I've never heard of it, but it reminds me of another movie called Hard Rock Zombies. Pretty much the same, except this time, the rockers are called back from the dead to save a girl, a town, and possibly THE WORLD!!

I hated Black Roses.  It was by far my least favorite in the 80's metal horror genre.  For a much better time with a similar premise, try Rock and Roll Nightmare (reviewed on the site) and Trick or Treat, this one has Skippy from family ties in it and Ozzy playing a preacher (in his more coherent days).

I had completely blocked   Black Roses (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0094752) from my memory until you brought it up, michael.  Now I'm going to have to scrub my brain clean with a power sand again.

Thanks a lot.

Now if no one mentions   Hobgoblins (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0089280) I'll be...

...

Aw, man

Hobgoblins?! HOBGOBLINS!! Do you want an original copy??? I OWN ONE AND CAN MAKE ONE FOR YOUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!! To be fair, Hobgoblins was more coherent in its unMst3k'd version, so it wasn't as hard to watch without the crew from the SOL. Space Mutiny was the same way (those Bellarians finally had a point when I saw the original... they control people's fate with those glowing balls), BUT, there was absolutely no way to save DEVILFISH in any way, shape or form. It is the most terribly edited movie I have ever been witness to.... EVER.

The first time I saw Hobgoblins was the un-MST3K version.  Once was plenty, thank you.  To quote Heart of Darkeness : "The horrors!  The horrors!"  It ranks up there with one of the worst movies ever made.

I can say two good things about the movie, however.  I did laugh once (the jock watching the other kids "fighting off" the Hobgoblins, wondering if they were doing some new dance.)  The other thing is that it ended.  Finally.

I think.
