i know this is an incredible long shot that anyone will recognize this but this is the place so...
i remember about 5 seconds from some movie that scared the hell out of me when i was a little kid..i'm pretty sure it was a tv movie...i probably saw it in the late 70s/early 80s...it was in color.
there is a young woman sitting in a chair doing her hair or something in front of a mirror. she's in a living room and the front door was a small window in the upper portion. some guy looks in wearing a mask (for some reason i think of a paper plate with glitter all over it...i doubt that was it) and she screams or dies or something...i think she saw him in the mirror.
that is all i remember.
(this movie probably wasn't scary at all...at one time i was freaked out for some reason by the brady bunch episode where the boys are trying to scare the girls out of wanting the attic as a room...when the "ghost" rises up out ot the trunk...boy was that scary.)
I think the movie is none other than John Carpenter's Halloween. Tobe hooper also played tribute with a similar opening scene in The Funhouse
thanks.
it could be halloween because i've never actually seen the whole thing...
i have a copy of funhouse lying around here. i guess it could be that too because i haven't seen it recently if ever...
that scene really got to me.

It certainly sounds like the opening few minutes of the original "Halloween" - the build-up to the murder of Myers' sister.
