Title: Blood Freak & Story of Ricky
Post by: Hero on April 23, 2003, 09:48:55 AM
Hello. I'm new here and wanted opinions on two movies I saw recently that have changed who I am: Blood Freak(the one with the turkey monster) and Story of Ricky(the one with the kung-fu badass).

You may wonder why I'm including these two movies in one post. I'm just too lazy to do them separetely.

Me, too.  And I haven't even seen the movie yet...

"have changed who I am"

I've never seen 'Blood Freak' but really like 'Story of Ricky'. How have these films changed who you are?  Have you recently been kicking huge amounts of arse?

I know I haven't been the same since "Story of Ricky". "Blood Freak" didn't really make enough of an impact  on me, but "Ricki-Oh"--oh!

I think you are confusing your "Blood" movies. H.G. Lewis directed "Blood Feast." However, "Blood Freak" was directed by infamous nudist director Brad Grinter (and if you buy the DVD, one of the extras is a short "nudist camp" segment where you get to see Brad in all his naked glory . . . yikes!)

In a sense, Blood Freak genuinely did have a major impact on me-- my college admissions essay was about my b-movie addiction, with a large portion expounding upon the glories of Blood Freak. As it turns out, I got in-- with honors!

I LOVE BLOOD FREAK! It's one of my Top Ten Favorite Bad Horror Movies. Until Andrew gets around to reviewing it you can enjoy the review at Unknownmovies.com (I am NOT affililated with that site, it's just a really great bad/obscure film site. Check out the PSYCHOPATH review there. That review inspired me to finally buy the film after reading about it for years!)
Also, the lead character in BLOOD FREAK is called Herschell, and was supposedly named that as a nod to THE Herschell Gordon Lewis, so no error was committed by the person who referred to "Herschell" in connection with this movie.

A documentary? Oh yeah!  A doc of bad Florida skinbags making a gloriously awful movie!
Seriously, when the narrator had his coughing fit, I lost it, as did everyone else in the room. We played it over and over. We also watched "Multiple Maniacs" that night, and I think Herschell would get his ass kicked by Lobstora.
