Title: What's Your Favorite Star Trek TNG Character?
Post by: Ash on May 09, 2003, 09:12:54 PM
So I'm sitting here watching Star Trek TNG "uncut" on TNN.

I was thinking to myself that it's been awhile since I chatted about Trek with anyone.

I'm a die hard Trekker.

I enjoy all the shows....DS9....Voyager....Enterprise....etc....

I love all the old 60's episodes as well but I was wondering who you like the best when it comes to TNG?

I have to admit that Captain Picard is my all time favorite.

Worf ranks a close second.

Who's yours?

STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION is the only one of the STAR TREK spinoffs I like and Picard is my favorite character with Dr. Crusher a close 2nd. I was especially fond of how the female characters on the show (with the exception of "The Boss's Wife" Majel Barrett as Troi's UNBEARABLE mother) were strong, professional and capable without having to make endless shrill speeches about how strong they were. Quite a difference from the many "I'm a woman, dammit!" characters that inhabit movies and television shows these days!

Isn't it so thoughtfull of them to put that banner across the bottom of the screen for those times when your mind goes completely blank and you can't remember what you're watching? Which do you think, did they just cover up that strip at the bottom of the screen, or did they compress the picture vertically to make room?

Data

Least Favorite: Weasley Crusher

I'm not a Trekker/trekkie or whatever it is these days, though I do enjoy the orginal series and now Enterprise.  I guess Data is alright, though they do tend to use a 2 x 4 on your head when exploring "What Does It Mean to be Human".  My favorite character from TNG is Q.  He at least isn't politically correct.

Q is always fun to watch. Remember that episode when he becomes human and has to learn how to sleep or defecate? I also like Data, though I find that he has been overused in the TNG movies (certainly not in "First contact", there the problems he faced were interesting enough). I particularly like the way he is first seen in the series, saying something like "How easy it is for a human!" when he heared Riker whistling a tune. What a great line to define his character and his aspirations!

TNG favorite is probably Picard, but my overall favorite between all of the series is currently a tossup between Dr. Flox (sp?) and Porthos (I love the new series).

No Question - it's gotta be Worf - Take a guy out of his home environment, make him the first Klingon on a starship, having to overcome all kinds of interstellar racism. Plus, he got some of the best looking ladies in the series!

The oil slick alien was called "Armus".

The episode was "Skin of Evil".

They encountered him on Vagra 2.
