Title: DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS
Post by: Gerry on June 20, 2001, 04:24:55 PM
DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS (1965) is playing this Saturday night on AMC, 2:00 a.m. my time (MDT). I absolutely love Peter Cushing and in this lovely little thriller, he plays "a train passenger who shows, via tarot cards, how five others on board will die." Cool! I can't wait to see it.

Gerry - you're in for a treat. It's one of the best short-story collections around, and Cushing is excellent. Another good un in this genre is Asylum.

Cool.  I think I've heard of this one before with the short-stories, but never made the connection.  I can't wait!

And of course Mr. Christopher Lee as the Skeptical Passenger . . .
Can't wait to see Lee in the new Rings flick --

So are Donald Sutherland and Michael Gough, if that matters.

I remember only parts of this film. I remember a card reader on a train. The film had my attention quick, but I was probably 8 years old and fell asleep before I could finish it. It played on CHILLER THEATER on WPIX from New York in the 70's.  DR. TERRORS HOUSE OF HORRORS made such an impression that it was one of the first films that I requested the name of it on this very messageboard when I first started posting. Because as a 8 year old I didn't remember the title. Well, I have taped it early this morning on AMC so I can watch it later.

Probably the 1st horror anthology I ever saw, and still my favorite, though "Tales from the Crypt" runs it a close 2nd. "Dr.
Terror's House of Horrors" has all the old classic stories in it,
some of which you don't see anymore. The werewolf story. The strangling vine story. The creeping hand story. The voodoo story. And the vampire story. And each story has a twist. And there is one final twist at the end. Worth seeing. If for no other reason, then to see the actors already named, plus Max Adrian. Enjoy
