Title: Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Post by: Mofo Rising on June 21, 2001, 02:09:14 AM
Not to put to fine a point on it, but it's sweet.

BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM is the movie made out of the animated series.  It's pretty much one of the best Batman movies ever made, and it only loses the top spot depending on your feelings to the first Tim Burton movie.

It would seem easy that an animated feature would more easily convey the Batman world than a live action movie.  The falling point of animated films is usually the voice acting.  Luckily this is not a problem here.  The voice acting is top notch.  Listen to the unrecognizable Mark Hamill voice the Joker.  Hell, they even got Abe Vigoda, and he put's in a great performance, what more can you ask for?

The whole thing may be worth it to you folks for the final fight between Batman and the Joker.  I know a lot of you are kaiju fans.

If you haven't seen it, go rent it.  It's one of the better superhero movies around.  Four slimes.

It's probably the best Batman movie ever.  The first one wasn't that great and seemed just like a vehicle for the Joker.  This one has everything you could want in a Batman movie.  Drama, comedy, suspence, romance, and even a little horror (the Joker is one creepy @!#$ and the scene with the crime boss's smiling corpse was kinda freak

I agree it was the best batman movie, but I still didn't like that much. Return of the Joker is much better.

Batman; Mask of the Phantasm, was indeed the best, most authentic portrayal of the Darknight Dectective in an animated form. Mark Hamill conveys to his audience a devious sort of menace, when doing the voice over for the Joker. The main screen villain PHANTASM was a great character, but why didn't he-she stay in the outfit? And why did it turn out to be the fiancee of Bruce Wayne? These are the only two disappointing moments in an otherwise passable film.
