Which do you prefer:the George Orwell book or the Kurt Wimmer movie?
And why?
George Orwell's 1984 is one of the best books I have ever read. I haven't read it in many years, and I keep telling myself that I need to read it again. I rank it right up there with the following novels:
* A CATCHER IN THE RYE
* LORD OF THE FLIES
* DAVID COPPERFIELD
* THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
So, my vote is for Orwell's book.
Went to Blockbuster on my lunch break. (Any break from doing tech support is a good break). And after swimming to the front door, (the parking lot was soaked. Water was over my shoes), I went in and rented Equilibrium, Eight Legged Freaks, and Catch Me If You Can.
Watchin Equili, and Catch tonight. Hopefully it'll turn out well.
I'll take the book . . . though the atmosphere of the movie seems very accurate.
Another Orwell book to movie was Animal Farm, ended up as Babe meet Orwell. It was moderatly tolerable till they changed the ending to a happy one! THE WHOLE POINT OF THE BOOK WAS THE HOPLESSNESS OF THE WORKERS (ANIMALS) WHO WERE TRAPPED BY THE PIGS (SOCIALIST LEADERS). Orwell was a fervent Socialist himself, but realized the dangers of excess in both the right and left and chillingly expressed this in both his fictional works.
Just my humble opinion.
