Title: Bad Movies in Iowa
Post by: Bmeansgood on May 24, 2003, 09:37:58 PM
I have noticed an unusual number of posts from people living in Iowa.  Perhaps there is some correlation.   I live in Des Moines and believe the greatest video store in the state is the Video Warehouse on Merle Hay.  It is the largest video store I have ever seen.

Cool!

I live in Cedar Rapids...Brother Ragnarock & Brother Ferox live a little over an hour away from me in Waverly.

Brother R. and I originally met on this board.

It so happens that he knows my cousin Katie on my father's side and the two of them developed a comic (Coco Roos) together.  An online comic....not an actual comic book.

I've hung out with Brother R. and his other friends a few times.

Cool people I tell ya!

Check out Brother R and Co. website:  www.cinemasodomy.com

I think there's so many people here on this message board from the midwest 'cause there's absolutely nothing to do here!

No beaches!

It sucks!

I've heard of the Video Warehouse before but have never been there.

The last time I was in Des Moines was to go to Adventureland and visit some friends and that was back in 2001.

A few things.  1.  ASH, you plug our site more than I do, thank you ;)  It's good to know we have a diehard fan.
2.  I hate beaches, and have nothing against this state.
3.  We should all road trip down to Des Moines to see this amazing video store.
Keep a' rockin'.

Speaking of a bad movie in Iowa.....remember "Miles From Home" with Richard Gere and directed by Gary Sinise?

The film where he and his brother burn down their farm and go on a bank robbing spree.

That was directed here in and around Cedar Rapids.

Now that I think about it....it really wasn't that bad of a film.

Kinda cheesy in parts.

One interesting fact:  near the end of the film when Gere borrows a farmer's tractor, the farmer's son comes running up to it and tells Gere that the cops are coming..........I used to go to high school with that kid who played the farmer's son.  His name is Jesse Coon

I would hope you only used to go to high school with him.  If you STILL went to high school with him, that'd be kinda lame...

I'm pretty close to Iowa myself, I'm in Vermillion, SD, college town in souteast South Dakota.  My fiance is from Iowa so I get to spent my share of time there (hopefully moving from Vermillion soon though...that whole finding a post-college job stuff is being a huge pain).  I'll have to check out that video store next time I'm in Des Moines.

I have found that a suprising amount of people here on the coast of NC are bmovie lovers, but alas most of them have yet to stumble upon this site.  The beaches idea is out, due to our large amount of them....and they're not that nice.

I am actually living in Iowa right now too, I have seen this video warehouse and yes it is damn good for movies.

I am in Manchester right now, which is about 45 minutes from Cedar Rapids. Little poo spot of a town too.
