Title: Did we start with bad TV shows?
Post by: Neon Noodle on May 31, 2003, 07:28:21 AM
It seems to me lately that the choice of watching "bad" features is not limited to the silver screen - but what were our origins?

Aside from the classics of the Three Stooges and Our Gang, I vividly remember some pseudo-sci fi shows from the 80's that seemed to be created for the elite badmovies.org members. Among them, this partial list:

AUTOMAN
WHIZ KIDZ
MISFITS OF SCIENCE (Courtney Cox, back in the day!)
MAX HEADROOM

any others?

'misfits of science' - good one.

how about::

'manimal'
'my secret identity'
'small wonder'

+

the original 'in search of' with leonard nimoy and it's hilarious soundtrack that rivals the soundtrack of 'zombie holocaust'.

Logan's Run went from the big screen to a poor imitation tv series.
The Hulk.
Supertrain
The Greatest American Hero
(I think those last two titles are correct)

The Bowery Boys -- way before my time, but they used to show those movies Saturday afternoons.  Usually more mystery than horror/sci-fi.

HELLO LARRY was an UNBELIEVABLY bad program. As were MAGRUDER AND LOUD, BEST OF THE WEST and Alex Trebek's incomprehensible gameshow from the 1970's THE WIZARD OF ODDS.

What about public access stuff? You gotta figure there are some fantastically bad shows to be mined there. Up here in New England, we have a guy who does infomercials on Sunday mornings called Dollar Bill, who owns a dollar store in New Hampshire. For the entire show, he just walks around his store (wearing an umbrella hat with dollar bills hanging off it) and rants NON-STOP about his merchandise. I'm honestly not sure how he breathes-- he sounds like the Micro Machines guy, only more frantic.
