Heya. I just got done watching the Animatrix, and I was wondering if anyone else got a chance to see it, and if so, what everyone thought of it.
Wow. First, I defend Matrix Reloaded... now I'm talking about the Animatrix...
Yeesh. I sound like a fanboy, huh?
I liked it. Here (Spain) only "The final flight of Osiris" has been shown in theatres, before "The Dreamcatcher". I and a friend of mine downloaded the rest of them from the net and watched them together.
I liked them, specially that one which explained how mankind and the machines started the war, it was awesome. The rest of them where alright, but I felt they didn't complement the Matrix series in any way, except for "The final flight of Osiris", so I felt a bit let down by this particular aspect. Despite this, great animation and good writing.
Actually, the one about the kid who "awakens" by jumping off a building is about a character in the new movie (Reloaded).
I loved The Final Flight of the Osiris. I wish I had seen it in theaters. Very cool.
Sci Fi Films as a good review of Animatrix (http://www.scifilm.org/reviews3/animatrix.html)
Thanks for the plug, Freep. I was just getting ready to toot...my own horn and there you go.
Yeah, I liked it too Grump. Fanboys unite! [closet ones too]
I'm a little behind, but I just saw this last night. I liked it. I enjoyed seeing all the little side stories, which didn't always concern the main characters. Of course I'm a little strange anyway, I usually can't help wondering what's going on with all the other people in a movie while the stars are busy saving the world.
I liked the short "World Record" - that's one hell of a way to discover the existence of the Matrix!
I liked "Beyond," "The Second Renaissance", and the "Kid's Story," but the rest were either too depressing, too confusing, or (specifically "Progam") pointless.
I think it's worth a rental for "Beyond" alone, but to actually own it... I don't think so.

I, for one, really enjoyed it. I found the feel much closer to the original Heavy Metal than the sequal FAKK2.
Thought to first short was some of the best programming I've ever seen, missed a bit on the final scene within the Matrix, but was picture perfect on the intro fight scene. I felt the dark "disjointedness" of the differing views of things going on within the Matrix was very good, and once again reminded me of the original Heavy Metal, though HM's soundtrack was much better.
Thoughts?
Rob

>World Record
That was my least favorite. I hated the animation style.

It didn't occur to me before, but now that you mention it...
