Title: What is this movie called??

I seem to remember a movie that featured a video tape, pre The Ring, that when played showed the person watching as though it was a security camera.  As the tape runs, it shows the person being killed in some way, shape or form.  Does anyone remember what it was called.  I need to see it to dispell some bad dreams I have been having lately.

I don't think it's Videodrome.  This one has a particular scene where the tape is running and a man is watching in bed as his wife sleeps.  He notices that it is him and he approaches the TV and then things change and he begins to see himself being killed.  I don't remember much other than that.

Is it Remote Control, from 1987?  If I remember right, it's a spoofy movie where aliens create a video that makes the viewer homicidal by showing them their own deaths.

I think.  I saw it a long time ago.

Thanks so much.  I'm not sure why the film bugs me so much but now I should be able to purge it.
