What can i say?
It rocks.Got to watch the DVD last week, and its impressive...most impressive...
The music and visuals are all up to Miazaki's standards. He's still got it. The detail of Character is fine, and i like that Kid! Our Heroine is a very realistic 10 year old girl, but her courage and determination seem quite believeable.
All in all, this is a keeper. And, i watched the subbed version. Always prefer the original voice track.
Like i have to tell you guys that.....
Haven't seen it yet... But...... How many bad anime *MOVIES* have you seen?
One of my favourite movies ever. What I like of Miyazaki is that he uses animation as if he was filming live action. I mean, he always goes the subtle way, instead of turning the whole thing into a "look how good my animators are" contest. "Spirited away" is wildly funny, inventing and beautiful, and it may well be the best animation film I have ever seen.
Everything by Miyazaki is worth watching, even "My Neighbor Totoro" - the most childish and worst dubbed of the bunch.
"Spirited Away" is just a grand film. I had the luck of seeing it twice in the theater and loved it right away. A good competitor for my favorite anime of all time, "Princess Mononoke."
The characters are well thought out and you definitely get to know them. It is also enjoyable to see Sen grow up and learn independence and responsibility. Some of the visuals are plain stunning. Like watching Chihiro run through the streets as the spirits start to manifest or Kamajii working in the boiler room. I know that it received best animated picture, but this one deserved to be up for best picture, period.
Just watched "Castle in the Sky" again the other night. I was in the mood for a good animated movie and finally decided on "Laputa" (the title I knew it by for years). The greatest part of that movie was when Pazu rescues Sheeta from the burning tower, with them clasped tightly together as Dola pilots the little flitter craft.

Sure. I can't get enough of the "sailing train" myself.
Good news! I'm on the "Castle in the sky" list for the library dvd! Our library in one of the top systems in the nation....and this is one reason!
And yes, i'll also watch it subbed, not dubbed.
