If you get TNN then you have spike tv they are changing the name of the network and showing less redneck oriented programs starting June 16. and they seem to want to compete with Adult Swim because they debut an animation block the 26

I know this is a petty and annoying thing to say, but doesn't anyone believe in punctuation and capitalization anymore?
On the current topic - Wow. Ren and Stimpy huh? On the first "Network for men?" huh? Gee, that's too bad.
I remember Ren and Stimpy. It had some pretty catchy music on it - Log, Happy Happy, Joy, Joy - and so on, ad nauseum.
It also had HORRIBLE, IRRITATING art. In fact, I blame Ren and Stimpy for the current crop of cartoons where bad art has become almost expected, let alone allowed. Cow and Chicken. Ed, Edd, and Eddie. Thornberries. Rug Rats (exactly how did a show about horribly deformed children become so popular?). It seems as though a cartoon must be UGLIER THAN SIN to be releaced today, and it's Ren and Stimpy's fault.
As for SPike, well, I was offended by the perpetuation of stereo types on The Man Show, so I'm sure I'm going to be offended as an entire channel depicts men as being completely hormone driven animals with no respect for women and an obsession with power tools and our own genetalia. But, hey, that's just me.

For awhile they've been calling themselves "The National Network" instead of 'Nashville'. They've been playing a lot of Star Trek: TNG and The Highlander episodes. They haven't really been Redneck TV for some time.
Met another Marine by the name of SSgt Cooke while at the SNCO Academy a year ago. When someone else said something disturbing and surprising, he and I would look at each other and say, "Caaaaalllllll the poooooollliiiiiicccceeeeee."
That was from the really disturbing "Rubber Nipples" episode.
"No, can't say that I need any rubber nipples, but if you have any rubber walrus protectors!"
Really disturbing...
Man,
Ren and Stimpy were back in the days that Nicktoons actually rocked. Now the only decent one is Hey, Arnold I believe. Spoungebob sucks.
I hope they bring back Rocko's Modern Life too, that really was cool/
Rocko Ruled!
Invader Zim was good, too.
Actually, Nick lost me when they stopped playing The Tomorrow People. The original series, I mean. Not the new one.

Good thing you never watched The X-Show. While The Man Show seemed to be kind of tongue in cheek, The X-Show often seemed to have kind of a mean-spirited tone to it. Of course I could have just gotten the wrong impression, I only watched maybe 200-300 episodes... :)

Way before we ever got Nick. They lost me when they ended Alex Mack.
I vaugely remember tommorow people could some one refresh me?

Man, Alex Mack as hot. her name is Larissa Olyneck, Anyone know what happened to her???
She's still acting. She was in 10 Things I Hate About You and a few other movies.
To find out more, you can do what I did and look her entry (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Oleynik,%20Larisa) up at the IMdB (http://www.imdb.com).
(The number of times I mention that site, you'd think they'd send me a check or something...)

I was always disappointed, "Hey, Yak, Where's your Tag!?!" never caught on a catchphrase. I still every once in a while blurt it out when trying to get someone's attention or want to say, "Where do you thing you're going?" Strange looks ensue.
But I still refer to people picking their noses as playing with their magic nose goblin collection. Even people who haven't sent Ren & Stimpy get that one.
YAAAAAAAAAAAA I can't wait for it to come back.I love the shows sick and twisted humor not to mention the interesting animation style. Now only if they would bring back Beaves and Butthead
im an artist and find the artistic style of ren and stimpy something refreshing.I know its sick, but Ive always thought cartoons were to tame I like the insane humor of it.I think the art of most of the cartoons now days is great. Look at Courage the Cowardly dog,Samurai Jack, and Dexters Laboratory, they have great art and animation style in them.I don't understand what you people would consider good art in cartoons,Speed racer?Disney cartoons?or even any of the old saturday morning cartoons.None of the art or animation styles were spectacular.I think that cartoon have gotten better and more interesting as of late, with them being less censored and oriented towards children.
I always liked the disgusting still frame close ups on Ren & Stimpy.
Like when it shows Ren's twitching nerve endings in his mouth when he loses his teeth and gets visited by The Nerve Ending Fairy!
He gets left a ball of lint!
Gross!

Would that be Spumco-vision? It's too bad no one has sold limited edition high quality prints of those close up stills, there's bound to be a market for them. They could be like Thomas Kincaid prints for the sick and twisted. I'll take the whole series!
Looking back on the old REN & STIMPY episodes, I must say that I found the animation to be quite good. It had a strange retro 50's style, which would then be twisted around by the characters. Yeah, the animation was sick and twisted. But it was intended to be and fit the characters persona. As for the new episodes, if they maintain the original style and vocalists (i.e., as I can recall, John K. did the voice of Ren) then I look forward to it.
And I must say that the history of REN & STIMPY's legal hassles/creative control between John K. and Nickelodion is sometimes more interesting than the show itself. That and their are numerous alternate versions of the old show in which they were cut and re-cut by Nickelodion when they showed syndicated re-runs (i.e., This was mainly due to the subject matter of the episodes. Funny how the shows gross-out themes made Nickelodion popular in the first place.).
Something tells me that the old episodes need to be released on DVD in their uncut form. Possibly with an audio commentary from John K. as well. But I guess it's just another pipe dream.
