Man Scared to Death by Horror Movie?
Wed Jun 18, 8:23 AM ET

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - A man was found dead in his seat at a cinema in the Indian capital after the late-night screening of a horror film which the director has warned could pose a health risk to those of a nervous disposition.

A police official told Reuters that the theater's cleaning staff found the man -- aged around 50 -- slumped in his seat early on Tuesday morning after the end of the showing of an Indian horror movie, "Bhoot," or "Ghost."

Police said they had found no identification papers on the man or external injuries on his body.

"Nobody has come forward to claim his body. Maybe he got frightened, I don't know," said the police official.

"Bhoot" is a spooky thriller about a possessed housewife and is set in a high-rise Bombay apartment. It is running to packed houses in many parts of the country.

Before the movie starts, a message from the director appears on the screen warning people with heart problems or pregnant women that they view the film at their own risk.

Indian horror cinema must be pretty bad!!
It can kill you!!

The director sounds like he's trying to be the William Castle of India or something.

'Twas the musical numbers that did him in, I'll wager.

I wonder if the producers of the movie raided the morgue and found a fresh body and lefty it in the theatre as a PR stunt...

(Sorry but someone had to say it)

I think I'm watching that movie as soon as it is released. Think of it, it's the bad movie viewer's hottest wetdream, to die watching a bad movie. Woooohhooooo!!!!

to die watching a bad movie. Woooohhooooo!!!

Nah...then you'd be immortalized by all your friends as the one who couln't take it.

There's a quote my wife is fond of: "No man has ever been shot to death while washing the dishes"
To which I usually reply: "Yeah, and now no man wants the embarrasment of being first"

funny how someone in that area also died of playing to much video games and neglecting his less important impulses like hunger and sleep. Morons... they are everywhere.

earlier fright master who made some films in the 50s and 60s of popularity that uses some gimmicks to shock people and further the twisted theatre experience.

made the old House on Haunted Hill... or was it the Haunting? I don't remember.

Reminds me of the first film by Alejandro Amenabar, "Tesis". In it, a couple of college students find a snuff movie, and accidentally one of the teachers ends up watching it and dying of the resulting heart attack.

The next morning, another teachers explains the students that said teacher died while watching a movie, and one of the students whispers to another "Spanish turd, for sure!" LOL!

William Castle directed "The House on Haunted Hill."  Robert Wise directed "The Haunting." Both films were recently remade.

And both stinks really bad. I bet William Castle is rolling in his grave for what they did with House On Haunted Hill.

I read a great short story about a "killer movie."  It's called THE ANSWER TREE and I think it's by Steve Bissette, maybe...or is it Boyette?  It's in SILVER SCREAM, which was quite simply the best horror short story collection of the Eighties.

LoL, I used to work at a crappy dollar theatre that got rented on occasion by Indians who played thier musical-odd films, I'll vouch for that one!
