Title: Preferred Type of Zombie
Post by: Ash on June 25, 2003, 10:49:50 PM
I was wondering what type of zombie you prefer....

A slow rambling zombie that is featured in most zombie films?

Or.....

Incredibly fast vicious zombies like in "Dead Alive" (AKA "Braindead") ?

Another question...

Do you prefer a human to turn into a zombie over a slow period of time...say several hours?

Or....

Do you like them to change within minutes of being bitten?

What do you say?

I prefer my zombies to be kinda fast moving like the ones in Return of the Living Dead. I also prefer that it takes only a couple of minutes instead of long time for a person to turn into one. Most importantly to me is that the zombies eat brains

That was another question I wanted to ask.

Do you like a reason for how the humans became zombies?
Like from a virus or bacteria or toxic chemicals?

Or....

Do you prefer not to know?  To leave it left unsaid?

RotLD, all the way. Zombies that tackle you are terrifying.

I prefer the traditional zombie, with no explanations given.   The main thing that makes zombies scary is that one at a time is probably no big deal, but when a whole horde of them surrounds you it doesn't matter that you are smarter, stronger, and well armed.   To make them fast and near-invulnerable seems sort of a cheat.

IMO, the films with the faster zombies aren't as good as the older films, but I guess they felt a need to do something different, and I can't really blame them.

Oh man!

It depends! If its a serious zombie movie then I like my zombies slow and lumbering and tripping over their own rotting toes! They should be rotten all over with bits and peices of them falling off! Unless they're fresh zombies, then they should be dripping and oozing but still be slow! OH! they have to be in lots of pain and moaning. They should be mindless lumbering drones who's only purpose is to consume the living! HOTTT!!!

If its not a really serious zombie movie, like Return of the Living Dead and Dead Alive, then they can be fast and leap about! They're allowed to be smart and cute too!

But most importantly, no matter what, they HAVE TO BE DEAD! They can't just be sick so it's like they're dead or they're going to die.. they have to REALLY be DEAD! I don't care how they get dead as long as they ARE dead!

love colleen

My preferred type of Zombie is a dead one.  I mean, an utterly destroyed, never coming back, bullet to the head Zombie.  Because the other types are, well, a bit of a nuisance, let me tell you.  Besides, they clutter up the living room something awful...

I prefer mine with freshly cut/pulped pineapple and slightly (be careful) warmed 151 layered on top .  It's also a good idea to blend the rums and brandy before adding the ice.  I've found that crushing the ice instantly waters down the effect too much.  Some bartenders add cherry brandy, but I feel that a little grenadine syrup works better.  And don't forget: thick straws, not thin.

Oh, sure.  You may think this is just silly and not important to the matter at hand.  But lemme tell you something.  One night I served zombies to guests while we watched zombie movies.  Sometime during a Peter Jackson movie, I realized that this was a poor refreshment choice for the party.  Good thing we had a couple of waste baskets.  Therefore, if there's a chance your guests may have to taste something twice, better make sure it's not so bad the second time around.

regards,

Apostic

Killer attack zombies all the way.  And I dig the slow transition.  It should take some time for the chemicals or whatever to take effect and transform the living dead.

Don't really dig the completely traditional zombie, caused by Voodoo, etc.

I'm into the American Traditional Zombie!  I want a zombie that is VERY slow.  One whose only purpose is to eat the flesh of the living.  Slow transition as well.  The cause should be left to the imagination.

If the cause wasn't left to the imagination, then we would never have the "When there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth!" line.  Classic!

I preferred my zombie as mindless slaves from a voodoo cult...

otherwise anything else is THE LIVING DEAD... and not really zombies...

The cause should be left to the imagination.

Too many modern monster movies try to come up with back stories for why the monsters are what they are rather than just take it as "ok, the monster's just are...deal with it".  I'm not a big zombie fan but I've noticed that trend in vampire movies a lot ("The Forsaken", "Dracula 2000", "JC's Vampires", etc...)

I like slow moving zombies who become zombies slowly, over a long period of time.

Hear, hear.  Zombies are dead, mindless thingies.  The idea of leaping shouldn't even enter what remains of their heads.

I also prefer my zombies roasted.

mmmmmmm, roasted zombies.  gggaaadroolaaaaadroolaaaaa

They can lunge every once in a while, but that's about it.

I don't really care if the transition is slow or fast...for example, ZOMBIE had it both ways, depending on what worked within a scene.
