If you read my earlier post from yesterday you may have known i was pretty p**sed about my theater not releasing 28 Days Later. As the last act of a desperate man i did something i hadnt done ever before i used my cable modem to download the movie. I dont normaly condone this but this was as i said a desperate act. The picture and sound were definatly lacking but the movie it self was great. Didnt get to see much of the gorey stuff but that hardly matters because the premise of the movie is what makes it scary. In this day and age what would the world do if weapons of this caliber were released? Would we just cut off an entire nation and leave them to die? any way i really liked the movie and cant wait to get the dvd whenever it comes out hopefully with the alternate ending.
Hey I've done it before as well!
Only to get those really hard to find films like Cannibal Holocaust and House of 1000 Corpses when it first came out.
You gotta do what you gotta do!
Actually, i DO IT TO IN ORDER TO SEE OLDER MOVIES OR MOVIES NOT WORTH PAYING FOR
vAN wILDER, fULL mETAL jACKET AND dOGMA (WHICH i LATER BOUGHT) ARE some examples.
In fact i also bought Donnie Darko legally after downloading a copy.
People who download movies are scum. No matter the excuse.
That is all.
Now, does that count for people who download anime or foreign film fansubs when they aren't going tobe released stateside, or at least buy them when they are? Or should I spend several years becoming fluent enough in Japanese to watch a few of my favorite movies while buying them legit? Just a question.
Of course I can't possibly condone someone copying illegally,
er, BUT
when Napster was around, I would download stuff to listen to. If I liked it, I'd buy the CD. If I didn't, I deleted the file and avoided the CD. Sort of a try-before-buy thing, you don't spend hard-earned £/$ on crap.
So (of course!), wuggles451, you'll be buying the DVD when it comes out?
I currently have a few films on my computer.
The main two are: Bowling For Columbine, and 28 Days Later. Although I have these now, I will DEFINENTLY buy the DVD when each of them come out.
As for pirating, I'm gonna feel immoral for saying this, but it's not all that bad! You have no idea how many of my friends have gone out and bought Donnie Darko after I convinced them to download it.
P.S.,
Has anyone heard the new Metallica commercial spoof with them wailing about how they love money and plan to sue everyone.
"M-U-N-E MONEY!"
Hilarious stuff. If you haven't heard it look around and see if you can download it. Whoops. I didn't just say that did I?
AND THAT'S MY TWO CENTS!
Well, you didn't hurt the theater, just the owners of the film. Maybe a letter or e-mail to the tehater telling them you wanted to see it would have been better. Now you're really obligated to buy the video
i have every intention of buying it on DVD ive just been waiting for this movie forever and the closest it was playing was three hours away. techniqually i dont think downloading movies is illegal but if i continued to share it and give it to others it would be but ive already deleted the film so no big deal.
