Post by: Chopper on June 29, 2003, 03:13:03 PM
is finally being released on dvd!!! it wont be out until the end of august though :( . if anyone's interested www.amazon.com has the info on it. it doesn't look like it's gonna have much extras on it, plus no commentary by Cronenberg unfortunately.

Yep. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, this is a GREAT summer and fall for DVD releases, including OMEGA MAN, SOYLENT GREEN, and MONTY PYTHON'S MEANING OF LIFE.

You can preorder all of them at Deep Discount DVD, and they will ship them for free.

Title: Once again, MGM is starting to disappoint

Again, I'm not the one to complain when it comes to a film I like that finally gets a DVD treatment. Yet when they skimp out on extras, then I'm quite disappointed. Considering that MGM has gone through all the trouble to get Roger Corman to do audio commentaries/video interviews on their DVD releases, why hasn't MGM thought about getting David Cronenberg to do an audio commentary/video interview for THE BROOD?

From what I hear, THE BROOD will be presented uncut in widescreen, but will only have a theatrical trailer as an extra. If MGM can make a Special Edition of KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE, then MGM can definately do the same for THE BROOD.

And hopefully, MGM will also get a hold of the 20 minutes of deleated scenes for their release of GHOULIES. If not, then once again 'Sigh'.

yeah really, what is up with MGM! i mean don't get me wrong i'm a big fan of corman being a B nut, but i have to say i think Cronenberg is a way better filmmaker  whose work deserves some damn better dvds.
