Now this, THIS is most exellent news. I so hope this happens I'd pay to see this many times, Cameron and Arnie are magic and seeing sigourany in this is just so....SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!
This hasn't been confirmed, and I doubt that it will ever be confirmed.
Arnold in an Alien flick....just doesn't seem right.
Strange that this is getting reported so much now because according to Harry at Ain't It Cool News the project is now dead because they weren't going to make it if the studio went ahead with ALIEN VS PREDATOR, which as we all know is happening and will probably suck thanks to the no talent in charge of the project.
Or it will be back burnered until AvP is completed and/or released.
No, it simply isn't happening, period. It was going to be a collaboration between James Cameron and Ridley Scott and involve the aliens finally making their way to Earth. One condition: they wouldn't make it if the studio went ahead with ALIENS VS PREDATOR first. Guess what the studio decided?
these words came from cameron himself. this news is at a few other movie sites BTW.
Course Cameron says according to the news that he's very interested in doing this. While this may not be a rumor it still doesnt say hes said hes gonna do it either. we'll see maybe we got lucky and Fox studios read andersons script and said 'f**k this!'
Ive heard that the movie was probably going to get made. But its never a certinty.Im sure some day someone will make another, Hopefully it will be by a director with some talent and not just some f**k hopeing to cash in on a name.
so your not in favor of Paul. W.S Anderson getting a hold of AvP then?;)
Personally, I'm not really getting being in favor of a new Alien movie. The last two sucked beyond all reasonable expectations of forgiveness.
resurrection was particularly shocking, but as long as it doesn't include sigourny i think we all will breathe a bit easier
personally i'm in favour of the alien vs predator movie idea, the two fit in pretty well considering
Shes a great actress! She brings so much to the series, its not her fault the last 2 blew, least the 4th movie wasnt total s**t.
she practacly makes the series what it is. Cant blame the actor/actress for the movies ending up as total poop....well unless they're the writer and director.

Yes they do, however I'm not particularly in favor of having it set on present day Earth.

What I'm hearing here (and I'm sure that I'm wrong) is that you're saying that the complete waste of film that was Ressurection was better than the sci-fi action classic that was Aliens.
You didn't just say that, did you? I misunderstood, right?
yeah i'm not sure if present day would work at all for an AVP movie. after all, didn't they first discover the aliens until 'the future' therefore contradicting the rest of the series. if anyone has seen or played the game, they had some very interesting storylines to tie them together.
and also, whilst sigourany may have been good the first few aliens movies, resurrection really did ruin it for me, and outlines how you should not bring characters back to life [eg Jason X] the series really needs to have at least some other characters in order to keep the series enjoyable
although a cameo-type appearance wouldn't be so bad i guess.
I enjoyed most of this movie,.
I have only seen Alien and Alien: Ressurection and I thought this was perfectly fine.
The scientist was pure evil, and I loved when he played with the alien behind the glass.
The underwater scene was very good. As was the scene where Ripley saw all of her other clones.
The human alien at the end was awesome , and I did feel bad for it when ity went out the window
And I was shocked when Wynona turned out to be a cyborg.
okay, all i can say is that i think the whole AvP idea is complete and utter total absolute (more synonyms please) CRAP! whoever thought of making this thing just really wanted to waste some cash in the hopes of dragging moviegoers to theaters.
i thought the whole DRAW of the Alien series was the whole human vs damn-near-invincible-alien thing. i really don't wanna watch a movie about OTHER aliens who hunt the first aliens. where's the fun in that?
and this is coming from a girl who will watch a Michael Dudikoff movie repeatedly.
why can't movie franchises get BETTER?
Simple statistics. 90% of everything is crap, so the odds of a sequel being good are pretty astronomical.
Alien managed this. Aliens was a good flick, to be sure. Great action, interesting and three dimentional characters, facinating develpoement of the Alien mythology, and some very memorable lines ("GAME OVER, MAN!", "Believe me, I'd rather not. I'm an android, I'm not stupid.").
Then came Alien 3 (cubed?), undoing all the triumph of the second film, and giving us and entire cast of characters that we're all secretly (or, in my case, not-so-secretly) hoping will die. No good lines, poor action, and the dumbest developement of the Alien mythos possible. And, finally, where the f#### did that dog come from?
Finally, we have Ressurection. Sigorney is back, for no apparent reason other than the fact that we can't seem to have an Alien movie without her. An alien that absorbs the characteristics of that which it has gestated in is made more human (and SO MUCH LESS DANGEROUS) with the moronic addition of live birth, removing the scariest aspect of the Alien creature (the whole impregnation of a living host thing). Some evil scientists are thrown in for fun, and we are given another two dimentional cast that is more than a bit difficult to care about. Wynnona is served up to us, being the only intelligent addition to the cast sice the second one. Hey, at least Rerssurection got that right, but sine it didn't do anything else right, how excited are we supposed to be? Finally, as a last effort to diverge from reason, the film gives us a re-entry scene in a ship that is depressurized, and a gigantic, repulsive, and generally stupid looking human-alien hybrid, full of bones and chitin, sucked through a hole the size of a quarter. I guess it was just made of acidic tapioca after all.
And now, they threaten us with another sequel.
Lord, give me strength...
I can't wait to see this movie! Yeehaa!
