Well, actually, they DO still make Frankenstein movies . . . but they are usually based on the original novel.
I'm talking about Frankenstein B-movies, that pretty much ignore the plot of the novel. You know, the ones where they have Dr. Frankenstein and his assistant creating a monster who kills some villagers, and then gets chased by guys carrying torches.
I'm talking about movies like:
* HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN
* SON OF FRANKENSTEIN
* REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN
* FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED
* EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN
* FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLFMAN
Those movies with Boris Karloff, and Lon Chaney Jr., and Peter Cushing, and all the other "regulars" are really fun to watch, especially on a rainy Saturday.
You can say the same about Dracula, the Mummy, and the Wolf Man. Movies like:
* TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA
* THE MUMMY'S CURSE
* CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF
* THE MUMMY'S HAND
* DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE
* THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA
Why don't they make fun monster movies anymore????
Just wait for Van Helsing, frankensteins monster is ready and waiting ;)
The studios sadly don't want to waste any money on making any new Frankenstein or Dracula films anymore,since they prefer to make T&A,makeup Fx filled slasher films that are much more cheaper to shoot.
As Dunners says,"Van Helsing" will be the exception,since only the multi-million dollar filmmakers(Sommers,Spielberg,Lucas)are able to get away with making either a film featuring an old school horror icon,or a PG-rated horror outing.
They don't even have the T&A anymore!

"John Carpenter's Vampires"
"Dracula 2000"
"Los Muertos"
"The Fallen"
They're still cranking out the (sometimes pretty cheasy) Vampire movies
Because Frankenstein movies don't feature half dressed teenagers, who drive suped up japanese cars,while talking to masked killers on CB radios, and humping pies. Oh, but how I wish they did.
LADY FRANKENSTEIN is one of my favorite FRANKENSTEIN films and you can purchase a copy of it cheap. B-Movie fans won't be dissappointed with with a $6.99 copy of LADY FRANKENSTEIN.
I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN is another great one.
FRANKENSTEINS DAUGHTER is a great B-movie.
ANDY WORHOLS FRANKENSTEIN is one of my favorites.
There was that HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN back in 1997.
