Title: Nosferatu
Post by: Scott HHH on August 08, 2003, 12:22:34 PM
Hi, sorry I didn't write in days, but my computer took a major crash. Did anyone see the movie "Nosferatu", an old silent film made way back in 1922? I think it is still very scary. If you saw it, what are your opinions?

Thats a good flick.  If you liked it you may enjoy shadow of the vampire......It is really slow in the beginning, but the last 20 minutes are great!  My wife walked in for the last few minutes of Shadow (while I was laughing hysterically) and she has questioned my sanity ever since.

Oh, yes. Seen it. Liked it. There have been many film versions of "Dracula," from Bela's in 1931 to "Dracula 2000," but, this one is probably the best of them all. And it is something of a fluke, we can still enjoy it. Though, not called "Dracula," the German filmmakers failed to get permission of Bram Stoker's widow to make the film, and she took them to court and won her case. And she had them destroy all the copies of the film, except, one I think. The film world would be a lesser place, if this film did not exist.

By the way, are you a boy scout, or an ex-boy scout, like this old scout. If so, you ought to check out "Lair of the White Worm," if only to see the dangers that exist for young boy scouts who accept rides from beautiful women, who drive a classic Jag. A good review of the film is at this site, even if that particular film clip is no longer there.

Yes, I've seen it, and it's absolutely awesome. I've seen Shadow of the Vampire, and Lair of the White Worm as well. In fact, I even had a Lair of the White Worm poster when I was in junior high.

What did everyone think of the Nosferatu remake with Klaus Kinski?

Saw the original 1922 version and liked it, but I watched it in order to produce an essay for  History of Cinema, and that diminished a lot the fun factor. Not to mention that my teacher told me later that my copy was quite butchered (it ran about 20 minutes less than the restored version).

I've seen it a few times. It gets better every time I see it.
