Title: Anybody know this movie?
Post by: Kradius on August 12, 2003, 02:04:24 AM
Hi.  I'm trying to find the name of a movie I briefly saw recently.  It was one of those late-night horror movies that you don't really remember afterwards.  It looked like it  was made in the late 70's to early 80's, and involved a haunted house.   The only really notable part that I remember was a big wooden throne-type chair coming alive and eating a woman.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?

This movie sounds vaguely familiar.

By chance is there anything more that you can remember from it?

Unfortunately not.  I kept nodding off during it, and probably missed some other high points.  I think one or two others may have run afoul of the chair, but apart from that it seemed to be a pretty stock haunted house movie.

I know I've seen it, but can't think of the title. As I recall, it was one of those stay-the-night-win-a-fortune type movies. I think it was set in a castle, also, I believe the guests had to search for the checks, which lead to them exploring the various rooms rather than just staying put.

I've been trying to remember the title of it, but so far I haven't come up with anything. :(

You said you saw part of it recently, was this on a cable channel or a local channel? If it was on a cable channel, can you recall which one and/or approximately how long ago you saw it, plus what time of the day/night it was?

That might be it.  As for when and where it was on, it was on late at night.  I don't remember which channel it was, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a major cable one.

Was it on a pay channel, or something like USA?

Sorry about the delay and thread re-animation, but I just finished multiple moves and have been offline a while.
The station running it was either a basic cable station or a high-end local  one.  I'm not sure which, but it definitely wasn't one of the bigger cable channels.

Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck figuring out what movie it might be. I *KNOW* I've seen it though.

Nope, sorry. The movie we're thinking of is much more modern, probably 1990 or later.

I do believe that Spellcaster (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0096153/) is one of Empire Pictures productions that Charles Band sold off when the company was going under.  It was shot at a castle in Italy he owned at the time and wanted to use more of in his movies, as he felt it was too good of a set to let pass.  The girl-eating chair was one of the movie's highlight scenes.  Each guest was dispatched in an inventive manner, ala The Omen series or The Legacy.  Then at the end....:)

That's it! I knew there was a girl I liked in it, but I couldn't remember who. It was Traci Lind (AKA Traci Lin).

Thanks guys!  Next time I'm at the video place I'll have to look for it, and this time actually watch it in a fully concious and coherent state (failing in that, I'll settle for semi-coherent).
