well, i don't usually go off topic much but here it goes:
the weekend before last my sister and i were in a car accident in decatur, Il. an oncoming car made a left hand turn into our path. when we hit the car, we were doing about 30-35. my sister (driver) and i walked away (me with cracked tailbone and muscle damage around ribcage...no passenger side airbag). unfortunately, a man in the other car was hospitalized for three days. my sister and i spent all of our time worrying for this man's well-being. luckily, he was discharged. least of all, my blazer was totalled but i couldn't care less. thank god no one was severely injured or worse. regular readers to this board know that accidents can be horrible horrible things as our friend ASHTHECAT is unfortunately well aware...
anyway, during the period after the accident, i found some relief from the stress by visiting one of my favorite websites...this one of course...and reading all the entertaining posts we're all accustomed to. it really helped me keep some sanity.
on a high note, i started a job as a newspaper reporter on monday. so far it is very high pressure and stressful and i don't know how long i'll last. hopefully i'll succeed (health insurance would be nice). last school year i was a teacher's aide in a classroom for juvenile delinquents and drop-outs (no health insurance). if i can last a year, i'll return to school fall after next for a master's degree in creative writing.
anyway, that's my OT post. thanks for listening and KEEP POSTING!!! and keep up the good work Andrew.
Gte better soon man, I was wondering why we havent seen you around lately.
Hey, I was an car accident last weekend. On my birthday no less. Friend and I are were parked at a red light when we were rear-ended by a drunk guy going about 30 mph. Lucky nobody was hurt, but that drunk guy blew a .223. That's really, really drunk.
Car accidents suck.
It's a good thing that everyone involved turned out to be okay. I don't know you mr. henry, but glad to hear that everything turned out alright.
Drunk drivers should lose their licenses permanently. Nothing gets to me more than people who willingly drive drunk just because it's more convenient, or it's "fun".
Anyways, I won't go into a rant. Sorry to hear about your bad luck, Mofo. That's some happy freakin' birthday present, eh?
Nick
Agreed. It sucks. Just glad no one was carried out ....well...i saw an accident last Saturday, on the way to church. A man's arm was sticking out from under a blanket, beside a wrecked bike, at the freeway split.
Someone else knows what Ashthecat went through.....
I drive an average of 150 miles a day, 5 days a week.
Wish me luck....
Glad to hear that no one was seriously hurt.
You are very fortunate.
Remember to count your blessings...
After my brother's death I realized how fragile the human body is...something I never gave much thought to before.
I've been told that the human body is a delicate chemistry set and even the slightest little thing can easily destroy it.
Some people die hard.
Most don't.
You were very lucky...it could've been much worse.

Well, the main problem is that America is stupid. I have been to a few foreign countries where the age to consume liquor is around 14. Still the driving age remains at around 16 (as it is here in Va).
Now, i dont understand why they do it where you drive before you drink. That is like giving a kid a gun and witholding the bullets for a few years. My group of american friends and I went crazy buying alcohal in a foreign country, but all of the natives were like "alcohal??? big deal..."
Plus, would a 14 year old rather buy candy or beer, I bet I know which one. So, this stupid arbitrary drinking law is what really screws things up in the world today.
