Caught this one halfway through last night. Bruce Dern is in it and so is the chick from the Munsters that played Marilyn- she's his wife in it. Which brings me to the question of why she only did this movie after that show was cancelled like 6 years before? Turning down script after script for this? Both must of been really desperate for some money to make this one in the end I guess. Bruce Dern seems to be the master of starring in b movies early on in his career. Anyone ever see this? Between this and invasion of the bee girls I am horrified at these movies they're showing. It comes on again later this month on the flix channel.
Bruce Dern was one of the kings of b-movies early in his career. I especially enjoy his performances in all those biker movies from the late 1960s.
I have never seen THE INCREDIBLE TWO-HEADED TRANSPLANT, but it would probably make a great double-feature with THE THING WITH TWO HEADS starring Ray Milland.
But don't quote me on it. This is a title that, as much as I have heard so much about, I really didn't think too much of it. Maybe if MGM plans to release this baby on DVD on their 'Midnite Movies' label, I might pick it up.
As for Bruce Dern, let me say that he has been in two great films that I wholeharldly recommend: Roger Corman's THE TRIP (1967) and Joe Dante's THE BURBS' (1988).
THE INCREDIBLE TWO HEADED TRANSPLANT makes THE THING WITH TWO HEADS look like a great film. I couldn't stand THE INCREDIBLE TWO HEADED TRANSPLANT. Even for a B-movie it is bad.
Psych Out was a lot cooler of a Dern movie than the trip even though hes not in it as much. The trip is cool with the electric flag music and the crazy visuals but there really isn't a story to it other than that. Sent a review to Andrew for psych out and hopefully you'll get to see it as soon as possible.
StatCat is right: Psych-Out is a way cooler film than The Trip, but what do I know? I love the Incredible Two-headed Transplant! Much stupider and more demented than the Thing With Two Heads.
