Thanks to MGM's wonderful treatment of this 80's classic on DVD, I was able to sit down and watch the movie the other day after snagging it cheaply from Best Buy. God, what a fantastic movie this was. I remember seeing it a long time ago and loving it, but this time, it was a whole different experience from a b-movie perspective. It cracked me up that literally 85% of the movie was pure skateboarding. Usually a short dramatic scene would happen between characters, and then it would switch to the kid from Goonies and his merry gang of skating pals as they all skated in unison for 5 minutes through the streets of L.A. to some 80's song. It was interesting spotting guys like Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, and Christian Hosoi in the background. Overall, a fun movie and a great blast from the past.
Anyone who's even a moderate fan of the movie, and hasn't bought the DVD yet, I suggest you do so. It has a great transfer and even some extras. I only watched one of the extras, but it was definitely interesting. Hook, Radley, the producer of the movie, and some other Dagger got together and met for the first time in awhile. It was cool seeing them B.S. and talk about the movie and how fun it was to do. Cool stuff.
And one more thing: "No, YOU be there!" Hopefully someone will get that. Best scene in a movie ever.
By the way, am I the only one who would kill for RAD to come out on DVD? It was a BMX movie of the same ilk that came out in '86 as well, I believe. What a great movie that was, too. Hopefully MGM will put it out. They did a great job with Thrashin', so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I saw it back when it first came out on VHS in the '80s. I wanted to like it, but Josh Brolin just could NOT carry the movie. He was just too white-bread for the role.
As for RAD; that movie is just so cheesy! I LOVE IT!!
